When I selected this property I was not sure if this is the correct choice, I read a lot of reviews and some of them were really bad. But I decided to go with this as all the bad reviews had a reply from the Management and they acknowledged the concerns. Now after my stay there I never regret the decision. It was one of the best stays me and my family had in years.

From the time I called in to the resort to find my way to the time I checked out I never had a minute of regret. Yes I could have got a better deal if I had booked directly as the package that includes food, free massages and a lot of other things for the same price I had paid.

Now for the real meat of the review, Everyone in the resort from the security personnel to the room boys, reception to the Manager and to the cleaners to the waiters all had a smile always and were going out of the way to help every family and ensure that their stay was memorable. I read a lot of reviews of food being bad and overpriced, but no one mentioned that the quantity of food served was double than the normal. I ordered a fish curry in Kerala style the quantity was more than enough for two people and my kids and also one need to understand that Kerala Style has coconut milk and not everyone can take coconut milk so order food that you know. They have Chefs from Kerala and also one person from North of India so order your food according to your taste and not as speciality dish of the place. The food from my lunch to dinner to Breakfast was all wonderful. I was on Ala-carte for both Lunch and Dinner as my package was not great but cost wise I paid around INR.3000 ($50) for three people for two times and with the taste and quantity I cannot complain. Food was phenomenal as I ordered what I liked and not what was special of Kerala.

The best part was the events that were organized by the Manager and his team. I reached at 12:45 and got my room by 1:20 after a one hour break for Lunch and a small shower there was a paddy walk, I avoided this as I was not in a mood to walk for 30 minutes with two of my kids. Then I spend time with my family playing food ball in the small field they had and also played a round of pool. From 5 to 6 we had a Sunset house boat ride and that was more than enough to like the place and see the Alleppy backwaters.
Typically in every resort you just are left alone but in Citrus the team arranged a get together from 0630 PM to 0730 PM and a lot of the Guests were there and there was a lot of fun games with prizes to be won too and we all started talking to each other and got to know a lot of people and made new friends too and then the stay seemed pleasant. At dinner we had a great performance of a classical dance by a wonderful dancer and due to the evening event a lot us started sitting together and we all were having a great time and no one wanted to get back to the room to watch TV again. I did not turn on the idiot box the whole time I was in Citrus. These activities really made a difference to my Stay and thanks to the Manager Pradeesh who made our evening beautiful and the kids too moved it. They Citrus staff are a one great family and a great team, we loved our stay there. I know it is a big review but I assure you your stay will be a memorable one.

Yes lastly the best time to Kerala is from October to February so plan accordingly after that it gets hot and a lot humid.

The location is fantastic with good view of fields on one side and backwaters on the other. The food is superb (though slightly expensive). There are no restaurants nearby. Swimming pool is good for playing with kids and there is a spa section too nearby. Location is ideal to visit most of the places. The room service is good and the rooms are fantastic - the bath room is as big as a hall :) There is a complimentary ride around the backwaters every evening. Difficult to reach this resort in the late evenings. If you have a car, it may be difficult to park(near the highway) as security may be the issue (The front office is co-operative - may extend help in this case). Need to book a car to get out of this place, though access to highway is good with buses/autos plying frequently.

I spent my honeymoon at this resort. It was one of the best luxury hotels due to its location. It has great staff and good food. We looked for some activities but were unable to get much due to poor climate. Nice transport. Itís great for both couples and family. The individual cottage kind of room was luxurious and great.

Hotel has very good infrastructure, swimming pool, location with good, games room and well equipped facilities. However the restaurant service is very slow and inadequate when comparable to other standards, needs a lot of improvement in terms of quality and speed of delivery. Also being at an isolated place, you need to depend on the ferry service provided by the hotel which may not respond in time when your driver waits for you on the banks of the lake. In all, inferior and non motivated staffing is resulting to these results. Please have a lot of patience for anything to happen when here.

I went to this resort with my family for a vacation and was amazed at the location of this resort, right on the backwaters. You have to take a boat to reach this place (so part of your backwater ride is covered) but you also need to time it properly or let them know in advance so that they can arrange for the boat when you reach. Amenities provided are good but the only disappointment was the swimming pool which is not maintained well. Both the lake view and paddy view rooms are good. Food was good with some authentic Kerala food options. Service was average and you have to call at least couple of times if you want something. Due to bad weather (which I feel was not as bad) we could not take the sunset cruise but they were courteous enough to arrange for a sunrise cruise but that too was delayed by an hour and it was not worth it (at least for us) as they took time to pick some customers en-route.

Great resort and it is exactly located in backwaters. Really I enjoyed a lot. To reach the destination we have to travel in boat. And the staff are really friendly, they took care of us like family members, you won't believe it. There was no carrot halwa in their menu but when I asked they made it and gave with nominal fees.

Had always wanted to go to Kerala and decided to begin with the land of houseboats and don't regret it at all! Booked the Citrus resorts there based on the experience I had with the chain at various other locations and the online spread of facilities it boosted of. To start with the pick-up cab was not on time and coordinating with the front desk was not a pleasant experience. On checking in, the room was average and I would rate the service the same. The front desk staff was neither rude nor very bothered about our overall experience at the resort. Swimming pool was a big disappointment with insects and frogs in it. Food was just average and had nothing great for our North Indian taste buds. One good part about the resort is their spa services and their houseboat. Experience with both these was good. Overall I will rate the place as a little above average.

The hotel has an extremely great view. However, the hotel is extremely ill-managed. The staff is not courteous. The bathrooms are shabby. Even the swimming pool is not well-kept and had dirt in it. The reception staff also was rude. I would not recommend this place to anyone and very likely will not be visiting again.

Location was good. The rooms were good. Food was excellent. The staff behaviour was well behaved. Appearance was good and very peaceful place. No issues in check-in and check-out. It was reasonable.
