When I selected this property I was not sure if this is the correct choice, I read a lot of reviews and some of them were really bad. But I decided to go with this as all the bad reviews had a reply from the Management and they acknowledged the concerns. Now after my stay there I never regret the decision. It was one of the best stays me and my family had in years. From the time I called in to the resort to find my way to the time I checked out I never had a minute of regret. Yes I could have got a better deal if I had booked directly as the package that includes food, free massages and a lot of other things for the same price I had paid. Now for the real meat of the review, Everyone in the resort from the security personnel to the room boys, reception to the Manager and to the cleaners to the waiters all had a smile always and were going out of the way to help every family and ensure that their stay was memorable. I read a lot of reviews of food being bad and overpriced, but no one mentioned that the quantity of food served was double than the normal. I ordered a fish curry in Kerala style the quantity was more than enough for two people and my kids and also one need to understand that Kerala Style has coconut milk and not everyone can take coconut milk so order food that you know. They have Chefs from Kerala and also one person from North of India so order your food according to your taste and not as speciality dish of the place. The food from my lunch to dinner to Breakfast was all wonderful. I was on Ala-carte for both Lunch and Dinner as my package was not great but cost wise I paid around INR.3000 ($50) for three people for two times and with the taste and quantity I cannot complain. Food was phenomenal as I ordered what I liked and not what was special of Kerala. The best part was the events that were organized by the Manager and his team. I reached at 12:45 and got my room by 1:20 after a one hour break for Lunch and a small shower there was a paddy walk, I avoided this as I was not in a mood to walk for 30 minutes with two of my kids. Then I spend time with my family playing food ball in the small field they had and also played a round of pool. From 5 to 6 we had a Sunset house boat ride and that was more than enough to like the place and see the Alleppy backwaters. Typically in every resort you just are left alone but in Citrus the team arranged a get together from 0630 PM to 0730 PM and a lot of the Guests were there and there was a lot of fun games with prizes to be won too and we all started talking to each other and got to know a lot of people and made new friends too and then the stay seemed pleasant. At dinner we had a great performance of a classical dance by a wonderful dancer and due to the evening event a lot us started sitting together and we all were having a great time and no one wanted to get back to the room to watch TV again. I did not turn on the idiot box the whole time I was in Citrus. These activities really made a difference to my Stay and thanks to the Manager Pradeesh who made our evening beautiful and the kids too moved it. They Citrus staff are a one great family and a great team, we loved our stay there. I know it is a big review but I assure you your stay will be a memorable one. Yes lastly the best time to Kerala is from October to February so plan accordingly after that it gets hot and a lot humid.
We had stayed at citrus allepey for 1 night and it was a memorable stay for us. Here's our story : We reached a pick up point and got lost to find the exact point, as the directions were not given properly. Jumped into the boat at the last minute before its departure (lucky). An upgrade of the pick boat is needed. The ride towards resort was beautiful, the picturesque backwaters brings a smile on your face. We were in for a surprise when we reached the resort, we had booked a lake view room but got upgraded to Pool Villa. The front desk staff were good and took care of the check in immediately. The rooms were massive, beautifully done decor with big king size bed overlooking the stunning backwaters. A small plunge pool inside the villa to relax was feather on the cap. The bathrooms were spacious. We had a private garden in front of the villa and you can go fishing in the lake (ask for the reception to give a fishing kit). They serve tea in the evening at the floating restaurant overlooking the paddy (beautiful). They arrange a backwater trip for all the guest and it was pretty good, for us it got a bit late due to another group who had their tour. But even then a late evening trip is well worth it.The dinner & lunch buffet were pretty decent, great taste and easy on your pockets. The traditional dance performance during the dinner was a treat to your eyes.Overall an excellent property and had a memorable experience. Thanks Citrus
Alleppey as a tourist destination fully lives upto the hype around it. It is super awesome place with experience of living next to the back-waters in quite & beautiful place. One advice don't take over-night house boat as it becomes very boring beyond a point. One can easily stay for 2-3days relaxing in Alleppey enjoying luxuries of life. I must say The Citrus Retreat multiplies your leisure several time. I have traveled a lot across the country & I have to say that Citrus Retreat is the best of all. The Location of the resort is awesome, just next to back waters. The staff is excellent & is very caring. Resort has loads of facilities like private swimming pool, complementary house boat rides, free spa session, gaming facilities like pool table etc. The buffet has several options to choose from & food is very tasty. I must say the Citrus Retreat is for sure more than value for money you spend staying there.
Situated just by the side of backwater. View from reception area and from the rooms in the same row of reception is very pleasant. Interior decoration of the rooms awesome, and very colourful painted pillars inside the room enriches it's beauty. Dinning room is very nice, you can enjoy beautiful Bharatnattyam dance during dinner. Food is also very good. One floating restaurant inside resort is perfect for spending afternoon teatime.
My overall experience was excellent. I faced no problem in finding the hotel. They are having their individual boat for travelling from sore to the hotel. It was located in water. It was away from the city. Staff behaviour was professional, friendly and excellent. They attend all requests on time. Rooms were neat, clean, spacious and well maintained. TV, AC, geyser working properly. Food was available and quality was very good. Veg and non-veg both served. No delay in check-in and check-out process. Swimming pool, gym, and indoor game was available. It was reasonable. It is a recommendable hotel for other travellers. It was a family trip.
