City Palace, a beautiful palace in the city of Jaipur, is surrounded by large walls on all sides. It also houses audience halls, pavilions and many other important buildings. The construction work of this palace was commissioned by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh during the early 1730s. The construction work continued till the late 19th century, which was mainly because of the fight between Maharaja and his descendants.

Near the entrance of this palace is the Mubarak Mahal or the 'Palace of Welcome' which was built by Maharaja Sawai Madho Singh. There is also a Maharaja Sawai Man Singh II Museum inside the reception centre. This museum exhibits Kashmiri pashmina shawls, Banaras silk sarees, traditional embroidery, royal period costumes and sanganer textiles.

There is a separate Maharani's Palace in the complex which houses Rajput weaponry that dates back to the 15th century. It also exhibits pistols, ivory handles, cannons, chain mail and swords. This palace is also known for Diwan-e-Aam, Diwan-e-Khas, Chandra Mahal and multi-cuisine restaurant.

"The awesome Tripto city palace"

  • 6.0/7
  • Posted Feb 5, 2017
A perfect blend of colours, designs, art and culture can be seen in every nook and corner of the palace. To be more precise, it is located northeast of the centre of the gradated Jaipur city. You want to stay away from the heat, the best month to choose for a trip to Jaipur is in between October and March. The weather becomes much pleasant, which will help you to experience every nook of the city properly.

The palace has a ticket charge of 130 and for that you just get to see a 2 room palace where only some chairs are placed thats ridiculous actually the main palace has no entry for travelers hence its completely waste. I would suggest not to visit the palace it has nothing to see.

The city palace is partly occupied by the Royal family and has a well designed and planned and spread out museum giving the. History of the Rajput kings and the armour, clothes and photographs. The palace gate of one side face the famous Gobindji Temple.
The palace and the hawa Mahala are at a distance of less than 1 km.
The city is called pink city.

"Good experience"

Ticket price high - Rs. 130.

For students - very much discount on student I card.

Good place for tourists.

But now a days traffic jam around this area is big problem due to some metro work.

Camera photography is restricted in few places like museum, durbar hall.

I recommend a visit to this place.

Hawa Mahal & Jantar Mantar is very much close to this, at walking distance only.

"The kings Palace"

  • 6.5/7

Overall a good experience. The city palace has a vast history, and the queens still reside on the other side of the palace so one face of the palace could be seen. The entry fee for tourist is Rs. 100 and Rs. 50 for students. There is a cafe inside the palace which supplies small needy things..

"The house of the Royal Family"

  • 6.0/7
  • Posted Dec 18, 2016
This place is close to Jantar Mantar. This is one of the main attraction for Tourist Visiting Jaipur. This is the palace where the royal family stays. They have their own staff and rules, the government doesn't in their matters. They have their own rituals and followers.
The Palace has various museums where the dresses of the King and Queen and their ancestors are kept on display. There is a place where the weapons and ammunitions are shown on displays. There two Silver Made pots which are worlds largest silver pot. The wall are painted with stone colors and gold.
The place is photogenic and it is decorated accordingly.
