I booked my stay at this resort for the August Independence weekend a long time back. Had heard a lot about this resort and was expecting it to be a good stay. We reached the resort early in the morning at about 6. A cab sent by Club Mahindra picked us up and took us to the resort. We were met with smiling faces. The check in was an absolute breeze. Very quick. Just gave them my ID proof and confirmation voucher, filled the check in form and off we were to our room. We stayed at the Barbadas block in room no.2127(i think). To get to this room, we had to go down 2 floors and on the way, we all were wondering is this some kind of basement room. All our doubts disappeared the moment we saw the room. Apparently, this building is on the slopes of a very small hill and the backyard door opens to a lot of greenery where you can enjoy a good walk. Any higher floor would get you just a balcony. This was fantastic. The room was simply lovely. We had booked a 1 bedroom unit for 4. It had 1 toilet with 2 entry points, 1 from the hall and the other from the bedroom. The kitchen was stocked with tea powder, sugar, coffee powder etc. It also had a mini refrigerator and a microwave to make maggi and heat food. Both the hall and the bedroom had a television with cable. There was a room heater in the bedroom. Also if required, one can utilize the security box in the room to safeguard valuables. The room was pretty big and 5 of us stayed there easily with an extra bed. There are several restaurants in this resort. Although i did not taste the food at every restaurant, I heard it was pretty good. The vegetarian restaurant on-site was Mercara. Really did not bother eating there. There are a couple of cafes and a Planters Club where one can enjoy a good drink. There is a games room where one can play table tennis, carroms, chess and checkers. These are available for free. There is also a small corner for toddlers to enjoy. Apart from that there is the famous play station consoles for which you need to pay and play. You can also play badminton for free. Only thing is it is outdoors and if it is windy, the fun part is lost. There is another games room where we can play snooker, billiards and pool. It costs Rs.100 for the hour. There are also a couple of video games and air hockey. All ranging between Rs.20-Rs.70. There is also a volleyball court here. Then there is the adventure valley. Personally my favourite. There are several activities here. Some of them involve riding a cycle on a rope which is tied from the base to the top of a tree. Walking on a single rope. Crossing a battered hanging bridge and several others. As dangerous as it sounds, it is very safe and you are monitored by experts who ensure your safety. If you choose to go for 1 activity, it costs Rs.150. Or you could take a package of 5 which costs you Rs.600. I suggest you go for the latter. We were 5 so we asked for another extra activity for free since we took the package. They happily obliged. We took the activity where we hang from a rope using our hands and slide right across to the ground which was real good fun. Everybody got a turn for free. There is the "Shop" onsite where you can buy your necessities such as soap, shampoo, maggi, juice chocolates etc. It just like a provision store. Every item is sold at MRP plus 10% which is not that bad considering the standards of the resort. The food here is quite expensive and if you opt for room service, it takes about 45 minutes for the food to arrive. We were not too bothered about this as the in-house dining representative made it very clear as to how long it would take. Did not make any false promises and let us down. The service was brilliant and the house keeping ensured our room was cleaned every time we went out and came back. House-keeping is free but does not involve cleaning dishes. Cleaning dishes cost another Rs.50. We didnt mind that either. There is Wi-Fi at the reception. People using data cards, dont bother as there is no network. We tried Tata Photon as well as MTS. I think Airtel is the only connection which works there. Anyways it was a brilliant stay and I would suggest this resort to anybody and everybody.
We visited this place on fourth week of Jan 2014, to relax, enjoy and also visit a few nearby places. The room here was too good with a big soft bed, a sofa come bed and a dry kitchenette with dining table and a few microwavable dishes. Apart from this there was also a sit-out with chairs and a centre table and a very good cloth hanger. The lighting in the room was very good and relaxing. The housekeeping was very prompt and very creative, they cleaned and decorated the room very beautifully which our kids enjoyed a lot. The food they served in the restaurant was also too good with a huge spread and different varieties, thematic too (especially on Republic Day). Live music was played by a violinist which all of us enjoyed a lot especially our son. The violinist was a very friendly person. The service here was too good, very friendly and caring, I would really appreciate the way they took care of our kids and allowed us to enjoy the food peacefully. Forgot to mention about the kids friendly spread in a separate area to attract kids to have their lunch/dinner without any fuss. Ambiance of the restaurant and the whole property was too good. They have a very nice play area both indoor and outdoor for kids and the indoor one is open till night 11PM. Apart from that they have kids arts and crafts area, library having books for both kids and elders of all ages. Play area for elders too both indoor (with carom, table tennis, chess etc) and outdoor (badminton court). Every day in the evening they have some programs like carnival, campfire, DJ music, stage shows etc, which all of us enjoyed. Flag hoisting ceremony also took place in connection with Republic Day.They also have a shop called Club Collectibles where we can get some basic food items like biscuits, chocolates, noodles, bread, jam, sauce etc. If we want a change in food we can buy noodles and cook in the room and enjoy (especially for kids). The travel desk was also helpful and advised us on package trip in the cab, who picked us up from Mysore station dropped us in Club Mahindra Madikeri, stayed there for two days, took us to different places in Coorg (Talacauvery, Triveni Sangamam, Omkareshwar Temple, Dubare Forest, Nisargadhama, Golden Temple-Tibetan Monastery) and dropped us back in Mysore station on the third day. Actually except for Talacauvery and Triveni Sangamam we didn't have any guess on what places to visit, the travel desk and the driver was very friendly to advice us on these other places. He was very friendly and never rushed us to any place and friendly to kids too. The days when we went on sightseeing we had our lunch outside in different restaurants, but on both the days both the restaurant’s food was not that good. I would advise the other travellers to be well prepared with some ready to eat MTR food items, heat them in the microwave provided in the room carry them along if they are planning for sightseeing. Since this is a hill station and a huge property, the distance between the restaurant, main gate, reception is a bit far from the hotel rooms, it was tough to walk especially carrying the kids, that too having a heavy dinner, but the people was friendly enough to drop us near our rooms in their club vans. This is very useful especially if we are travelling with old people. The overall experience was awesome; all of us enjoyed our stay, especially our kids. A beautiful place to stay .
Club Mahindra Kodagu Valley is one of the most beautiful properties of Club Mahindra. I had visited with 16 of my friends and we had about 7 - 8 rooms to our disposal. The rooms are clean, The Staff is very courteous and super friendly. The property is spread very wide but provides you the privacy you need. They have 3 swimming pools, A super big chess (like the one in harry potter movie, only this one doesn't kill you :) ) Now lets talk about food, we stayed there for 3 nights.. and all the days we had breakfast & dinner in hotel itself. It wasn't included in our package (We took it only like that). There are 3 restaurants in Club Mahindra, one of them serves al carte food and rest 2 serves buffet. We took ala carte option, the breakfast was sumptuous. and quite reasonably priced. Dont get tensed when you see Rs 150/- written opposite to a Masala Dosa, they get 2 large size dosas and not one. The aaloo Parathas are to die for... In dinner, we generally had Indian food with their varieties of soups, starters and main courses, the food is amazing. Dont forget to try Dum Aaloo. The rooms are equipped with a Microwave, Water heater Kettle with sufficient tea, coffee and sugar bags. They have basic utensils like plates, 2 -3 bowls to make and food, spoons and forks. Rooms are also equipped with heater (yes heater) the climate is generally quite cool there and you need heater. Club mahindra also offers holiday planning, We had gone without any concrete plans as to visit where and when because we were not very aware about timings of that particular place and all. The holiday planners help you to plan the daily activities. The advice from them is available free of cost, but few activities like rafting at Cauvery river is arranged by them and few other in house activities, those are chargeable and are reasonably priced. Advisable to take the activity package from them. As we were a big group, one of the guide had come with us for the entire day to show us all places and Club Mahindra didn't charge for that. Few things to remember, Coorg is very family friendly place. It is cool most of the times so extra clothes may be a good idea. If planning to visit during rains, Please don't forget to ask for Umbrellas from Club Mahindra, they provide you for free if you don't loose it.
Had stayed in this Madikeri (Coorg) Property last December. It's a huge well maintained property. It's about 5 to 6 km from Madikeri town. Staff here is excellent and always ready to help you. Our private vehicles are not allowed in the property & rooms are spread across the property, we have to call hotel's private car to go from our room to reception area or the main gate. As it was holiday season there was 100% occupancy, hence we had to wait for hotel car for a bit long. The food was excellent, particularly pizzas. There are a lot of activities that can keep you busy. There is not much to do in Madikeri town. If you want to relax and enjoy the property, this is the place to go.
The resort is more than 2 hours away from the Mysore railway station. We visited the resort in may this year. The resort doesn't look that big from the outside but it is actually made on acres and acres of land with lots of greenery inside. The reception was very organised. Our bags were taken out of the cab by the porters and kept aside. We were told that the luggage would arrive at the room and we didn't have to bother about it. On entering the reception we were offered juice and asked to be seated in their lounge which had many sofas in clusters. The receptionist came over to us and asked us for our booking details and did all the formalities while we were seated. A porter then escorted us to our room at the far end of the resort via winding cemented pathways bordered by flowering plants. The negative was that it was a long walk and a cart or something could have been arranged. The porter informed us of the restaurant where we would have our complimentary breakfast. He answered all our questions about the facilities and activities in the resort very politely and enthusiastically. The room was very nice and clean with a kitchenette which was stocked with plates, knives, spoons, bowls ,microwave and a tiny fridge. Hot and cold running water was available in the kitchen sink. It was purified so we could even drink it straight from the tap. There was also vim liquid and a scrubber near the sink. There was a dining table, a divan, a revolving t v, a balcony with a clothes drying stand and netted windows. The bathroom was clean and had a hand and a roof shower. The room was very well equipped. There were a lot of activities for kids and adults at the resort. From adventure activities like rope climbing or swinging from trees like monkeys to arts and crafts to cycling ,badminton and a t v riding. Nothing was free though, we had to pay a nominal amount for each activity. The activities were packed without a boring moment. We didn't feel like going out of the resort to see Coorg because we were so occupied with the activities. The response to our requests for ironing boxes etc was lightening fast. At night the divan was converted into a bed with pillows and a blanket without us asking for it because we had a child with us. All the services were prompt and impressive. We did not have to ask for anything. The buffet breakfast was tasty with a wide range of south indian and continental dishes. Chocos for the kids and diet friendly food for the health conscious . The check out also was hassle free. I forgot they had a travel desk for sightseeing tours, tattoo counters and a play room for toddlers. From entering the resort to exiting it was a fun filled and wonderful experience. I would definitely go there again and again.
