Kovalam food, sight-seeing and shopping options
The beach is a decent evening getaway if you shacked up in Trivandrum, though it doesn't really give you a feel of being on a beach, thanks to the city crowd which lands up. There are quite a few eating options enroute, ranging from roadside shacks to of course, The Leela. There are also quite a few shops by the approach road selling various knick-knacks ranging from films to souvenirs.

The Coconut Bay Beach Resort is located 25 metres from the Kovalam beach. The resort has its own private beach with lifeguard. Water sports and catamaran rides can be organised, and snorkelling equipment is available. The Resort has an Ayurvedic treatment Centre and also offers Yoga sessions under the guidance of a yoga instructor. The best time to visit is from November to March.
Rooms & Amenities
There are 16 independent beach villas and 5 sea-view beach rooms. Each room has an attached bathroom with hot/cold water, refrigerator, telephone, TV and room service. The villas have a sundeck area with hammocks and beach beds. The multi-cuisine restaurant specialises in seafood. Coconut Bay Beach Resort facilities include: swimming pool with Jacuzzi, health club, games equipment, library, gift shop, baby-sitting, ISD, internet, fax, money changer, and a travel desk.
