Hotel Review of Angel Hotel
Comments: I might as well answer the first question on the tip of everybody’s tongue – what is so touristy about Tiruppur? Well, nothing. But if you are in the vicinity, for instance driving on the highway from Coimbatore to Salem, then Tiruppur is a 12km diversion from Avinashi, which is itself about 40km from Coimbatore. (Less than 2km from the Tiruppur railway station but about 45km from the nearest airport at Coimbatore). You take this diversion not to see some work of art or a wondrous vista of nature but to go to what is probably the knitwear capital of the country. And you go there to pick by the kilograms (not literally) t-shirts and other knits that are sold at throw away prices. And here in this dusty, traffic-congested, narrow-laned town is the Hotel Angel. God sent one might think but read on, before you make a judgment.
The Angel has been constructed only with the business traveler in mind – the merchandiser of your favourite Euro brand, the chairman of the company that owns your famous American brand, the textile engineer from a Japanese company whose machines drive the industry and others such like. And so you can expect at least some of the comforts a discerning businessman would expect.
Best Experience: The rooms are a little tight fitting but with most amenities. A mini-refrigerator, writing table, cupboard with locker, queen-size bed, a rather large single seater sofa and centre table – all make the room feel a lot smaller. There is a wireless internet service, that should have been complementary (they charge Rs.100 per hour).
The 24 hour coffee shop “Buttons” has good variety, and having spent a few days in the past year there I must vouch for it. The “T-shirt” multi-cuisine restaurant serves a good business breakfast and a great buffet spread for the afternoon. You also have a wide choice of poisons to quench your thirst. The cocktails include the “Doctors Discription” for a cocktail containing brandy and pepper, lime cordial, honey and hot water! I prefer my beer, so I can’t guarantee the barman’s mixing skills.
Newly added to the hotel are the gym and beauty parlour. At the latter venue you could get a bridal “mackup” for Rs.2500. Men too can enjoy the skin treatments and massages.
The gym is really great with some of the better equipment in the market laid out for the use of the exercise conscious traveler. This along with the sauna and jacuzzi comes complementary.

Worst Experience: For a small town like Tiruppur the costs seem a little exhorbitant. But then the autorickshaw guy charged Rs.40 for a 2km ride and when I raised objections saying even in Bangalore we half the amount, he said 'Remember you are in Tiruppur, Sir!'
