My parents were in Bangalore and most places in Coorg were already booked for that weekend. I got to know of this place from a colleague who had been there, the rates seemed reasonable, and luckily, I got a booking too!!! We were pleasantly surprised on reaching the place-it was beautiful!!! It is in Siddapura, tucked away in a cosy corner of the town. It has only 3 rooms, our cottage had 2 rooms- we were a group of five, so fitted the bill perfectly. Facing our cottage was the huge coffee estate belonging to the owner of this place, Mr Bopanna. Rooms were huge and very comfortable and well-furnished with a balcony outside to sit and admire the coffee and pepper and orange trees. Rain would have probably added another dimension altogether. Coming to food, we had ordered lunch on our way, so it was ready when we reached. Lunch was pretty good. We chatted and watched TV in the evening. But the highlight was the pandi curry they served for dinner. I don\'t remember having anything else in the menu once I tasted it. :) To sum it up, if you do not want to spend a fortune and still want to have an awesome time in Coorg, this is the place. The hosts are extremely nice, hospitable and cordial people. Wish we had one more day! Had to say goodbye the next morning after breakfast!!!
I am an avid traveller though my profession does not allow me to travel as much as I would like, but I do sneak a few days or week to visit certain places. I first planned my Coorg visit in 2012 and then again in 2014. First time I did some basic research about weather, how to reach there from Madurai etc. basic for any traveller especially when travelling with family. I stumbled upon Coorg Holiday Cottage, by net during search and had a talk with Mr Bopanna. We had booked a cab and we reached there without difficulty. When travelling from Mysore there is a short cut way to reach Coorg Holiday Cottage, but the road of short cut is not very good, so if given a choice travel the normal route. Season to visit Coorg to me lies between October and February as before that it will be rainy (no sightseeing!!) and after that it is hot as altitude of Coorg is not much. Coorg Holiday Cottage, offers nice pocket friendly stay and I believe that Mr Bopanna does this as a part of hobby to provide hospitality and not as business. Hence he excels in it. His family now I know well, is very nice and they give utmost attention to their guests. High point is tree house, Bonfire and when he is free will takes you for a walk in his coffee plantation (he is very knowledgeable and tells you some of the really nice points about the coffee and plantations), they have ample of space and you can play badminton also. Food provided is breakfast and dinner, it is good homemade stuff though you may tell them not to put too much spice. The only drawback that I feel is that places like Talakaveri are 5-8 km more far off, but that's the catch as where there property is, that is almost virgin area away from traffic. You can take a long walk with family or friends without finding any vehicles crossing your path. I recommend it for customised stay as a very good option.
We had a wonderful homely stay at Coorg Holiday Cottage in their clean and cosy twin cottage. Mr. Bopanna had made all arrangements as requested. Great place for a relaxed family holiday. Food was very good and served by ever smiling boy Kishore. Enjoyed having breakfast and dinner in the open sitout area of the cottage facing the coffee estate. Mr and Mrs. Bopanna were very helpful and gave us all the guidance in going around the place. Overall, a memorable stay and definitely recommended.
This was a lovely experience in a lovely area of India. The hosts were so kind and helpful. Our stay here was a dream!
Coorg is a beautiful place to go for a weekend getaway. We stayed at the Coorg holiday cottage. It was more like a farm house, beautiful location and the owner Mr. Bopanna was really very sweet. They also had a treehouse in the cottage and a badminton court. We enjoyed alot during our stay there. It is the best cottage within a subsidised rate. I would suggest this place to everyone who is going there for a wonderful vacation.
A 300 km drive from Bangalore takes you to the heart of Coorg's coffee country to the revered site of the origin of the River Kaveri at Tala Kaveri. HolidayIQ reviewer Manoj says that Tala Kaveri is "a nice pl
