Day 2 of our coorg journey (day being at Shanti Estate) was at Jungle Coorg Camp backwater retreat near harangi dam in Kushalnagar. This is a sister concern of Coorg parampura resort and has just opened last month. I booked this place only because they were from the parumpara group which has a good rating since I had not read any reviews about jungle coorg camp. After crossing Kushalnagar towards Madikeri, you have to take a right turn after 7 KM. boards guide you to the resort after this. This 6 km stretch can be bad at times given its primarily hamlets and not even villages. A mile the resort you start to get a glimpse of the reservoir and I was like wow – is this where we are going! No need to say I was proud of myself for selecting this place already! I was pleasantly surprised by this place no doubt. Although I had seen a few pics at their website, I Everything about this place it better and more beautiful than I had imagined. There are only 4 cottages currently as the rest of the resort is under construction. The cottages were better than any 5 star accommodation I had ever seen. Tastefully done upholstery in a contemporary styling. The verandah to each cottage has a breathtaking view of the backwaters – almost like looking out at the sea being right in front of you minus the sand! Each cottage has a private lawn attached with a window to the backwater with a window opening towards the reservoir. They a large bathroom with a bathtub and another open shower area – for alfreso bathing! I totally loved this – but hot water is available on between 8 and 10 am which is a tad disappointing. They even have TV albeit I had already had my wifey promise me beforeh hand that she would switch on the TV throughout our Coorg trip! Give the location, the food quality was superb! They had North, south Indian and even Chinese food. Each dish was tastefully done and yummy! Although they didn’t stock up beer at that time, my dad was carrying our quota luckily. They were happy to chill our beer bottles in their freezers. After freshening up and lunch we spend the resort loitering around. Later in the evening we climbed the monkey ropes, and the various stuff they have put up at the resort. By no I was hungry again. Since it was almost sunset and getting cold, we ordered for snacks and our beer. Next was the bonfire and barbecue that they provide at extra cost. This was simply superb. Sitting there with your loved ones in the dimly lit shack, with the reflection of the distance lights and the stars in the backwater was amazing. To add to this we had a bonfire and barbequed chicken being served. Even the soup we ordered was delicious. The chef cum waiter cum supervisor is as amazing a guy as his cooking is. We had a really chilling time and finally relaxed for the night. The following day we woke up late as there wasn’t anything we had to do and also because the power went for an hour at 5 am. Although you didn’t need the fan if the windows were open, we needed to keep it closed for fear of mosquitoes and insects as were with a toddler.
It was a last minute plan to visit Coorg to have a calm and pleasant stay. Since we have not planned the trip in advance pushed to go with ad hoc booking for stay. Another challenge is being the vacation time all the resorts was packed especially one with swimming pools, Because my daughters interest was to stay in a resort where swimming pool amenity is present. Luckily while Googling happened to hit the webpage where it was talking about Coorg Parumpara also gone through some reviews where the rating was up to the mark and thought of giving it a shot. Despite being the holiday season luckily got a room in Parumpara however for only one night and day, because other days the rooms was already completely blocked. Since my daughter’s interest was swimming pool she spent almost 2 hr in pool and had a very good time over there. The time when we were at the pool it was neat and clean. Also the "Ganga" cottage where we stayed in was good and comfortable though it was small. Regarding Housekeeping never seen one and there is a contact details of room service was affixed from the inside of the door, when contacted room service no one picking up the phone and had to call manager to get the room service connected, really had a tough time for getting connected to the room service. Food was authentic and good. However would advice to staff somebody to look after the Children's at the swimming pool to avoid any unforeseen situations. Also would strongly recommend putting a caution board at the deep area of the swimming pool indicating the actual depth that would help parents to advice their children accordingly. My advice to the People those who visit Coorg for the first time is at least plan for a 3 night and one day stay and need to plan for a 3 day schedule. Plan the following for first half and second half check in at PARUMPARA to have fun filled activities, bar, food and swimming, bonfire, cycling etc:- 1. Dubare Forest - Elephant ride, Boat ride, river rafting ride 2. Nisargadhama, Dubare Day3 - Plan the below for Day 3 and visit mysore later in the day. 3. Harangi Dam, Dubare 4. Golden Temple There were no shampoos supplied by the hotel at the swimming pool. We had to carry our own shampoos. Would be great if hotel organizes for the same. Overall Parampara is worth staying with the family to have fulfilled activities and good authentic food.
Our check in was from 18 December to 20 December 2013.The best part was daily cultural program before dinner, dedicated singers and actors used to perform and nearby there was a DJ hall also. After cultural program we used to go to DJ hall and various types of activities were conducted inside resort. The swimming pool used to be cleaned very frequently by hotel staffs, many indoor and outdoor games were there. The staff of hotel used to help us with volleyball game etc. There was a good cycle track inside the resort. Though some cycles needed maintenance there was one big chariot statue within resort, the Resort was full of greenery and the location is absolutely pollution-free. The working staff was decent. We being from pune there was some language problem, but the staff was took an effort to understand us. All the words that I write will not be enough to describe what I have experienced. I will conclude by saying '' Our coorg parampura resort trip was woven fine like clothing for the soul divine.''
I visited Coorg with my friends for a holiday. It's a very nice place the climate is great there and it has some very good waterfalls. The location of the resort is great it's very easily located its near to the market place. It was a one day stay and we enjoyed ourselves there. The food was good and everything in the resort was very good. I would say it an excellent place. The resort does not have a modern look but it's a homely stay. It looks more than a home than a resort or hotel. The front office staff were very good they are very helpful. They didn't provide us any welcome drink on arrival. The overall service of the hotel was very good. Their hospitality was very good and made us feel very good our stay was awesome. The room was good they did have AC but no WiFi service. Only Vodafone and bsnl will work here. They had comfortable beds in the room. The food was good its value for money. They did organize a campfire and we enjoyed that. They don't have spa, gym or swimming pool. We searched on Google for a good stay and booked our stay here. I suggest that they should have a swimming pool, spa, and gym to give a comfortable stay for the guest. Only by providing a good hospitality to the guest is not enough. The should have additional activities to make the experience of the guest better.
I visited Ooty on a holiday trip with my family in the month of March 2017. I directly booked a room at this hotel when we reached the spot. The hotel location was excellent. It was easy to reach the place. It was easily accessible to transportation's restaurants and much more. The appearance was very good with the attractive looks. The front desk was excellent with the hospitality. They welcomed and treated us in a respectable manner. They completed the check-in and check-out process on time. They were polite in nature. Rooms were very comfortable as it had all the basic required amenities which were all in working condition. It was spacious and airy. The bathrooms were well maintained. The room service was good and they were on time. Foods were very tasty as it was like home food. It was fresh and hygienic. There were no fun activities in that hotel. The overall service was very good and excellent. Our stay was very comfortable in this boarding house and I will recommend this hotel to other travelers also.
