Perfect for College students on a budget.

Posted 12 Feb, 2014

I'd like to start off by saying how convenient the booking was. A simple conversation with the lady at the front desk, and no down payment required. This, after days of trying to talk to other hotels with no reliable response; Corbelli's location was what made our decision to stay there so easy. We'd walk for ten minutes through the French colony to the coast everyday when were there. On the morning when we checked into the Hotel, after being shown to our rooms almost immediately, we were looking for some decent South Indian breakfast which was surprisingly not available at Corbelli. However, a small restaurant and sweet shop right across the street served as the perfect economic breakfast place when we'd had enough of the Bread and Egg served at Corbelli. The roof-top Italian restaurant at Corbelli was quite expensive and, as students, we just could not afford to eat there. We'd just get some pizza from the Domino's Pizza two buildings away using our discount coupons and we were happy. When you're at Corbelli, you HAVE TO try out Cafe Xtasy down the road for some classic wood burned pizza. It's like any other city around Corbelli; an ATM, a chai shop, Nilgiris, a bar. You name it. The rooms at Corbelli were decent. I wouldn't expect any more when we were weren't really paying that much for them. There is a serious lack of natural ventilation in the rooms but it isn't uncomfortable. The rooms are fully equipped with an air conditioning system, a mini-refrigerator, a water heater and a TV. (However, we just weren't able to adjust the temperature on the AC. Guess the knob in this particular room was broken). Like I said, they give you what you pay for. I'm not complaining. The staff were absolutely warm and courteous, slightly confused at times, but sweet nonetheless. The swimming pool, Oh! The pools, if you can even call it that. It's a large tub of water on the Terrace. It's fine if you want to just splash around in some water, but we'd have liked to do a few laps; it's alright though, since there really is no other way of accommodating a swimming pool in such a commercial zone. At the end of the day, it was a wonderful trip and Corbelli was the right choice for us when we wanted to holiday on a budget. Will definitely go back there.

Comfortable room, courteous staff, tasty food

Posted 7 Jul, 2014

I stayed at Hotel Corbelli over a weekend in August 2013 along with my wife and daughter. The room was very comfortable, the staff were courteous and helpful, the food (room service) was tasty. The best part are the neatly priced tariff rates (Rs. 1610/day for a standard a/c double room). If you are looking to stay at a comfortable economical hotel, this is it. The hotel has a restaurant attached to it but I understand that its not under the hotel's administration. Perhaps I could be mistaken about this. I didn't have the opportunity to try it out since I spent the days there trying out different cuisines across the city. French breakfast at Mc Rennett, south Indian lunch at the restaurant right opposite to Corbelli and dinner at The Rendezvous. Corbelli is right in the middle of a the busy shopping zone in Pondy and so a word of advice to tourists driving into the city in their own cars. Parking for the hotel guests is arranged at the ground floor of an under-construction building in an adjacent street 100 metres away with a shutter for protection. Its safe. Check-in and check-out was hassle-free. I am definitely staying at the Corbelli the next time in Pondy.

Pleasant stay and at a convenient location

Posted 28 Feb, 2014

I opted for this hotel due to various online reviews and its locations. We were visiting Pondicherry for leisure trip along with whole family. The overall experience was good. All the major tourist attractions are at walk able distances. Being centrally located in the city, all eating outlets are also nearby allowing you to choose your preferred options. The hotel have its own Indian restaurant attached to lodging. So, you need to pay directly every time you have food. We had only morning tea ordered directly in the room. The food prices seemed slightly high. The rooms facing the road were good but small compared to the inside rooms. The inside rooms were spacious but not well ventilated ( I don't know why they have not put windows on the open sides of the hotel instead of just a small ventilation, which was not enough). The staff of the hotel was very friendly. The owner lady personally looks into customers' comfort. We had some issue with a bulb in our room; the owner lady fixed it herself as the electrician was getting late. They also helped us with early morning check-in and also guided on tourist place information. The bathroom fittings can be improved. For a place like Pondicherry, it's a budget hotel and expectations should be kept accordingly. For the prices they charge, the hotel facilities are good. Location of the hotel was the biggest advantage as you can any time come back and take some rest if you get tired while sightseeing.

Value for money and delicious food

Posted 25 May, 2015

Value for money hotel in good central location To start of with, the room was pretty neat and clean. The bed and blankets were neatly washed. Guys don't expect the pool to be big. It might be just 5 ft wide and may be 30 feet in length Next with the staff. All the staff were friendly. Especially Mr. Vincent was so patient in listening to the small complaints (WiFi connectivity and stuff) and helped in every way he can The food was just brilliant, especially the grilled chicken with red wine sauce and Chinese lollipop Overall, the best budget hotel to stay.
