Dalhousie food, sight-seeing and shopping options
For hotels, if you want to book in advance, my recommendation is do not book the himachal tourism corporation hotel. It is in ruins there. Any other private hotel will do well. The rates are competitive, so call a few before making the bookings. Do not forget negotiating on price. From Punj pulla there are a few hiking trails. If you are planning to go for hiking, make sure you are well equipped for it. There are a few food joints where you easily can have good food - like there is one authentic Sher-e-Punjab dhaba. Nice food, ambience is good, service is ok. Avoid spending on the mineral water as the normal tap water the hotel will provide is good enough. Eat a lot and sleep a lot - that is what the idea of the vacation is.

Hotel Review of Silverton Estate
Comments: Our stay in Silverton was one of the best parts of our trip to Dalhousie and Dharamshala. We were two couples with children in the age group of 4-6. The place is picture perfect, the food was very homely (which was a special request since we didnt want children with upset stomachs) and the most important aspect of the stay - the hosts were very warm and took extra effort and pain to ensure that our stay was comfortable. I would highly recommend Silverton for any family looking for a comfortable stay. I would say that if we had not found Silverton with its warm ambience, spacious rooms and personal touches - probably our stay in Dalhousie wouldn't be memorable at all. Thanks to Vikram & Cherry, the hosts for ensuring we had a good time.
Best Experience: 1. The best part of the stay, apart from whatever I have already mentioned (spacious rooms, good property) - was the World Space music! The hosts have very thoughtfully and cleverly made arrangements for wires and speakers so that we enjoy lounge music throughout the day in perfect natural settings. We would be having breakfast or dinner under a tree and there would be this soft, melodious music playing in the background..!
2. The staff were very helpful. The best part is they kept our kids busy. Children would get up and go play in the garden, be playing badminton or football - and we didnt have to worry whether they would be falling over or running over to catch a fallen ball. One staff was there to play with them and one to fetch the ball!! what more of a royal treatment could we parents have asked for - that we are left to enjoy on our own and dont have to hanker after children
3. We would have breakfast/ dinner at various settings in the garden. Even on the days when we had to eat inside due to rains, Vikram personally came, dimmed the lights and switched on candles to ensure that we had a good time!
Worst Experience: None, we had no bad experiences. Rather we kept remembering the place even after we reached Delhi.

The place is very charming...enormous rooms, personal touches everywhere..very old world in feel. Its located just a short walk from the bazaar and yet its completely secluded..Vikram is a warm host, very helpful in organizing sightseeing and trekking trips. The only drawback I felt was that you feel like you are on the hotel's timetable sometimes, not yuour own..in terms of meal timing, food menus etc. They could be a bit more flexible. But the service, charm and overall...

Hotel Review of Silverton Estate
overall experience was of tranquality though you have to be a formula-1 driver to park your vehicle in their temporary parking lot-road very narrow & steep. 800cc owners beware! engin will not get exhausted & will not respond& you shall have to park way down- location is excellent with no hustle/bustle of traffic or noise. F&B are very expensive as compared to the meals offered in standard eat-outs in the market- major plus point is the room tarrif &...
