The place is amazing, with so many activities and things to do. The service is very good. The food is delicious. The rooms are nice, clean and spacious. Star gazing at night was something that you can't experience in the city but I experienced it here. There was nothing that I would say was not good. Me and my GF enjoyed the stay a lot.
The title of the review translates as 'a great experience in the jungle' The resort is not really in a jungle but it's quite a bit off the beaten track. Damodra camp was a good find. We checked the reviews on the internet and booked for our party of 6. People are friendly and service is great. The tent is well appointed with a nice bathroom. Its air conditioned which is very necessary in Jaisalmer in February as it starts getting hot. The food was tasty and wholesome though we found the spice level a bit high. The evening programme was one of the best we have seen in Rajasthan. Interesting and with skilled presenters. They have a great place to spend a late evening. It's a terrace with couches. With the stars out the desert night is spectacular. The camel ride on private dunes was great away from the hustle and bustle of Sam All in all a great stay.
I Accidentally booked the hotel for incorrect dates (Jan 9 instead of Feb 9) I called the provider immediately (after about 4-5 hours) of the initial booking once I realized I had selected wrong date. The individual said there is no possibility of refund and they can't re-schedule because Feb 9 I fully booked (that was after 5 days of following up via phone an email). Asked about refund; that is not a possibility. Asked to see if they can give me a hotel credit so I can use it to book a stay for some other time for someone else for that amount; no response after multiple follow ups. Oh well, I made a mistake by selecting the incorrect date on the site, I do realize it but another mistake was picking the wrong place as well, they seem to lack professionalism.
We only planned a night's stay to experience the desert. Little information was given and we missed out on witnessing the sun rise and the feeding of the wild peacocks which was a pity. The dinner and show was also not very well explained. The show was very good and they served up a number of snacks which we assumed was the dinner. After the show we realized that a full spread awaited us at the dining room which we could not possibly eat.
A hidden jewel. The location, amaneities and every last detail is just perfect. The food, the entertainment and the ambience is amazing. I would highly recommend this camp. My only complaint is the hidden transport fee charge. Other than that, it was an amazing and an awesome experience.
It is the best desert camp resort in Jaisalmer. It is secluded & noise free - for a relaxing holiday. The food & services are personalised. The cultural programme in the evening is very entertaining. There are only 10 camps making the experience wonderful. We recommend this resort.
We had an incredible experience at the Damodra Desert Camp. All arrangements were fully taken care of, starting with our pick-up from the city center. Once we arrived at the camp - which was indeed quiet and isolated from other camps, the fun began! After a brief rest, we headed out to the sand dunes for camel rides, which were a lot of fun and just the right amount of time. We then watched a beautiful sunset before heading back to camp. The evening festivities consisted of traditional song and dance (and some acrobatics/puppets as well! ), All of which were accompanied by delicious drinks and snacks, and blankets when it got cold =) Dinner was also excellent, including a more "home-like" flavor yet with plenty of options. All the camp staff were extremely helpful and looked after our every need! The entire experience was simply outstanding and we highly recommend it for anyone visiting Rajasthan.
The resort was good, but there was nothing arrangement of lunch on arrival, no proper arrangement for deserts safari and they looted us for pera sealing, as per cost of package the arrangement was not worth there should be improvements in the package.
Very friendly people in a very interesting setting. We felt safe amd comfortable after travelling from the you. S. We weren? T sure what to expect but were pleasantly surprised. The only thing that seemed unnecessary was the drive to the village. I was uncomfortable peering into the residents? Homes.
After passing by cars that pull "desert-sailors" up in the blue sky, suddenly the driver turns off the well paved road towards left into a sand-road. Mhh... Fearing a bit to get lost in a "Nowhere", the arrival at Damodra Desert Camp proofs immediately that "Nowhere" can be heaven. Two friendly dogs and a few very nice people form the welcome committee and made us feel immediately at home. The so called Swiss tents - all set up in a decent distance from each other to grant privacy - are beautifully decorated. What I loved most was the attached bathroom giving a rustic feeling without compromising on comfort. Surprisingly and at first a bit uneasy about it: there are no locks on the tents. But fast we found out that this camp works with their own people, all from the nearby Damodra village; it's like a big family and without knowing how, suddenly you feel becoming a part of them. Christine, the American business partner is the only "firangi" but she is such a lovely complement to Priviti, the local "entrepreneur", who designed great excursions like a camel ride at sunset to the sand-dunes, or what was really the top - a short drive to the lost village. Story and site not to be missed! In the evening they offer a lovely cultural program, including music, dancing, puppet show, fire-eater, while serving tasty starters from the tandoor to the guests. After a buffet dinner with fresh local and international dishes - yes, there were Spaghettis too! - it's just magical to step back to the tent or climb up the "watch-tower" under a sky of million stars. As we stayed for two nights: only suggestion for improvement: The rooms should be made/cleaned on the second day. But I think Christine has already taken care about it for the next visitors.
The overall stay at the hotel was awesome. The hotel was conveniently located and it could be reached easily. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the hotel. It was a religious trip. I had visited in a group. There was not enough parking facility provided there. The room had basic amenities like AC, TV and geyser in working condition. The bathroom was clean and well maintained. The housekeeping staff regularly cleaned the room and bathroom. There was no special view from the room. The staff’s behaviour was helpful and friendly. We were allotted the room once we reached the hotel. There was no delay in check in and checkout procedure. It was done on time. There were no activities in the hotel. Restaurant was not provided there. The hotel was value for money. I would recommend this hotel to other travellers.
First of all, Jaisalmer is a very good place to visit. It makes us realize the historical heritage of our country. This hotel made our stay at Jaisalmer very comfortable and more entertaining. The hotel is built in the form of tents in the desert. The stay in the deserts in the nights is preferable as it is very cool here in the nights. The fare of the hotel is a bit too high but you get services for all you paid. The traditional activities including the folk dances and singing is just heart touching. Rajasthani food here is also awesome (especially daal-baati). Staff is kind and polite. Overall its just wonderful and I would recommend each and every travellers to have a stay here.
My first visit to the Golden city of Jaisalmer and I had the opportunity to stay at this hotel. A beautiful hotel, but modern Indian style. Simple but very tasteful and especially clean. Staff were helpful and always present. All staff member were really hospitable and make you feel at home. A mix between Mumbai and Rajasthan. The view from the terrace is wonderful on strong even more. I would really recommend it to everyone.
Visited in Dec 2013 and had an absolutely great time. My two young kids, 6 and 9 year old boys got to stay in a real Desert and experience everything first hand. The food was great and the hospitality too. Sufi Music and dance in the evenings, visit to an old fort, nearby village, Oasis, camel ride to view the sunset were icing on the cake.
