the overall experience was okay... the only thing in the resort that was unsatisfactory was the interiors of the cottages...it was not maintained well... rest the service was good....though the food quality was not upto the mark!...

Though the approach to the Sterling Resorts-Darjeeling ( which, incidentally, is situated at Ghoom, about 8kms from Darjeeling town) was a bit disconcerting-you have to take a very narrow and steep road avoiding oncoming traffic- on reaching the resorts you are completely overwhelmed by the courtesy of the staff and the ease with which you are ensconced in the room. Sterling Darjeeling has a excellent location, perched atop a hill in Ghoom and offers almost a 360 degree panoramic view of the himalaya mountains including the Kanchenjunga from the restaurant and various viewpoints. The rooms however do NOT face the kanchenjunga. Some of the rooms are renovated and in good condition, the older ones are deplorable and to be avoided....

From outside the hotel is good. It is situated at Ghoom,a few kilometres before Darjeeling. The studio accomodation that we got under timeshare was not good. We were ready to pay extra but to stay in a good room but that was not possible. The view outside the window was horrible. Darjeeling is a wonderful place to visit. The ambience is just too good. Sterling Resorts however, was something of a disappointment. For one thing, it is not in Darjeeling, but in a place called Ghoom (Ghoom is around half hour before Darjeeling). For another, the honeymoon package deal was a raw deal. Wonderful location just off the crowded Darjeeling town. Easy accessibility to many sightseeing spots, without having to cross the crowded town. Couple of spots within walking distance. Breathtaking view of the Kanchenjunga from the resort. The resort is in the process of being renovated. We stayed in a room which was already renovated.They have done a pretty good job. The quality of the food however, could be improved. Activity room was under renovation during our visit. They had a functioning TT table....
