Mentioned in ancient texts as Daityavakra, Datia is a large district which is known for Buglamukhi Devi Temple, Siddhapeeth of Shri Peetambra Devi, Gopeshwar Temple and Sonagiri, a sacred Jain center. These are highly popular pilgrimage spots and on festivals, thousands of devotees come here to worship. You can also visit the fort and state museum here. Another huge attraction is Jahangir Mahal built in 1620 AD and is known to have 400 rooms within the palace. It is a seven storied marvel with a towering height of 130 feet.
