We are in De Rock yet again! And it has been as pleasurable as in our past visits. Charles is a great host and takes personal care to ensure the comfort of his guests. This time I was here with extended family that consisted of people from both ends of the age spectrum. Both the elderly and the young enjoyed their stay here. Food was excellent and Christopher ensured that the food was to our taste. Augustine and the other people running the daily stuff at the place ensured that we were at ease and helped with the bedding, food and other services. Mind you, there is almost no cell coverage around the place. This more so due to the terrain and it is a blessing in disguise. Keeps away from those never ending calls. Though I've been here before, I would not mind coming back if I am in the area again. Really a great value and bang for the buck! Keep the great experience rolling, Charles!
De Rock Resort in Coonoor is located at a very high altitude - Lamb's Rock view point. The location of this resort is breathtaking, amid-st of tea estates which will leave any nature lover at awe. The Lambs' Rock view point is just in front of the resort. It is surrounded with tea gardens all around. You can find gaurs/bisons roaming in the tea garden. The only thing is an expensive food. For small snack it costs around 350/ INR, but justifying the location it is worth it.
Nice hotel, nice location, food was awesome, I faced issue with hot water at this hotel which spoiled my stay there. Hence I vacated the hotel after staying one day, actual plan was to stay 2 days. I would have been happy if there was no hot water issue at this hotel.
Car parking facility was provided. The interior furnishings of the hotel were good. The staff behaviour was good and they were friendly to our request. The hotel did not provide any activities. The hotel had provided both vegetarian and non vegetarian food and the taste of the food was very good. I was able to see the tea plantation. The check-in and check-out procedure was not delayed. The services of the hotel were good. The amenities were in working condition. The room provided to me was good and well-maintained. I would recommend this hotel to other travellers.
Nice and clean with great ambiance with wild life surrounded. Never had seen 9 bison's so close in my life, want to be out of your mechanical life in city, visit this place near Lamb's Rock Coonoor. The hotel food was good with camp-fire at night with cool breeze touching your skin.
I had heard a lot about the natural undisturbed beauty of Coonoor and as it was to be my first visit to Coonoor, I was searching for a place that would get with the natural surroundings and not be intrusive. I was also looking for some quiet and a place where I could relax, search for butterflies and watch birds. My search led me to De Rock. I reached the place quite late in the afternoon. As it was my first visit, I was stopping at various places to take in the fresh air moving at a relaxed pace. At first glance itself, I realised that I had made a great choice. The rooms were beautiful and spacious. The dining area was awesome. The food was good. Things couldn't get any better. I was wrong! When I woke up the next morning (around 6 am), all I could see was mist and more mist. By 7 there was more mist. We then went out for a morning walk to Lambs Rock, which is right next to the property. More mist there, it was amazing. When we finally came back around 9 am, the sun was up and we could finally get a proper view of the property and it's surroundings, it's amazing. The stay was right in the middle of a Tea estate and you get some stunning views of the tea garden as well as beyond. The hosts were wonderful folks willing to share their knowledge and experience. The only thing according to me that can be improved is the food quality. I would highly recommend this place. It's a full value for your money.
De'Rock, Coonoor is a small property and well maintained. It is located near Lamb's rock a famous view point in Coonoor. The rooms are neat and well designed. The room on the first floor is spacious and commands a good view. People can try a small trek to the near by stream with the help of locals there. The hotel people will help you find a guide. The trek is really good, but beware of Leeches though. Take necessary precautions such as snuff powders and salt to keep them at bay. The best thing at De'Rock is food. The chef has a magical hands so try that for sure. The quantity of food provided can be a little more. De'Rock, Coonoor is a must visit place
It was 2 nights stay in Coonoor with the family, based on internet reviews and few personal recommendations I have selected this property for the stay and indeed it was worth. Slightly overpriced, but every penny worth spent. Quick service, polite and nice staff. Spacious and clean rooms with good interior. Food was excellent. Really memorable stay and recommended..!!
It was good staying in this hotel; I had been here in the month of February. The hotel location was good; it was near to the airport. The hotel had a good appearance and it had a royal look. The room was good and it was spacious, comfortable and had all modern amenities. The service was very good and it was on time. The food available in the hotel was good and many varieties of food were available. The hotel had a pool, but I did not utilize it. The hotel is recommendable to other travellers.
I stayed fore one day in the hotel. I went there with my friends. Complimentary breakfast was not given there. I took a double AC room. It was located in main city area. Room was very good, it was well decorated. Services were also good. Reception people were nice and cooperative. Appearance was fine. Location was fantastic. Food was there, but I did not take it there. Hyderabad destination is excellent and a good tourist place. Check-out and check-in was okay. AC was not working. It is a recommendable hotel and economical also. Only bonfire activity was present in the hotel whereas other extra activities were missing. Beautiful view was visible from the room. All basic amenities were available in the room like TV, fridge, geyser, AC, bed, etc. I liked everything at the hotel.

De Rock in one sentence is a must stay destination in Coonoor. Perched atop one of the viewpoints in Coonor Lambs De Rock, the views of the tea estate and the world below is mind blowing. The food is home cooked and awesome to say the least, and the personal guidance from the people there on places to visit and things to do, really helps on the trip. Honestly we were struggling to find something wrong with this place.
It's is the perfect place to visit, stay and enjoy. If you are someone with a desire to explore nature and be a part of it or someone looking for a relaxing vacation in pristine locations away from the maddening crowd or some one looking for the elegance and romance of living in tranquil serene environs, so much closer to nature then I recommend you to visit this place. It allowed us to enjoy natural surroundings in a homely atmosphere. The staff was kind and the food was adequate without being too heavy. The location was misty and it was a treat for all our senses. The cottages are cozy and well furnished with huge mountain view windows designed to appreciate the beautiful landscape and make the most of the spectacular views of the sunrise, moonrise, and the breath taking views of the lit up plains of Mettupalayam and Coimbatore by nightfall. With nature at its best, De Rock is an ideal getaway for enjoyable family vacations.
I just stayed there for one day with my team. The place is really good. One good thing was no mobile signals and no disturbance from outer world. Food was good and the service was also good. One man was awake till we close our camp fire. Next day morning we saw a bison just next to our cottage. Over all it is good if you have self transport.
I visited De Rock resort Coonoor with my uncle-aunt and nephews. I was impressed with the photos I saw on trip advisor, and I was pleasantly surprised to find that the place looked exactly like in the photos. It is located a bit remote, so not too easy to find, but Mr. Charles was very helpful in guiding us. The rooms were well kept and neat. The tea garden in front of the stay was just amazing, and you could just walk down to Lamb's Rock!! The staff is very courteous and the food was good. However, during my stay we kept facing some or the other problems - the geyser was not functioning, suddenly the water went off in the bathroom.. but the staff was polite enough to help us out. May be they could do better with checking of the facilities before Mr. Charles leaves for the day, because if there is any problem in the night, the place is really remote for any assistance. Just a word of caution...do not depend on your phone... the place has no cellular network. So if you want a relaxed holiday without any disturbance of phone etc. then this is the place..
Overall nice location & fiendly people , calm & scenic place for an ideal vacation .
