We stayed 4 nights in this idyllic setting backing onto the water. The accommodation was superb with our balcony opening out onto the waterway and forest. The staff were brilliant, nothing was to much trouble for them and the food was superb - even when a macaque took our breakfast bananas! Everything was locally sourced and environmentally friendly. The park was wonderful and we had canoe and walking safaris as well as jeep safaris, the naturalists were very friendly, experienced and knowledgeable and were able to answer all of our questions, their wildlife spotting was amazing. They totally made the visit, especially when we discovered a sloth bear raiding a bees nest - an unforgettable experience. We visited 4 national parks back to back in that trip which were all very different and all incredible, but I think Satpura has to be my favourite ... It is just so pristine and enchanting.
Its was the 2nd oct, weekend and we were just bored of going to some place nearby delhi/ncr(where we reside), denwa was in our off -beat, holiday list for a long time. It was a quick decision with another friend's families, we decided, booked our tickets and then we were of. The nearest major railway station is itarsi junction, 2hrs drive to "the most awaited off-beat holiday"that I had planned for. As you enter, the resort, smartly dressed people await with chilled glasses of awesome lemonade, wet tissues which refresh you after an overnite journey followed by a short drive. As you walk towards your cottages, (they have 8 cottages & 2 tree houses), you notice the beauty and aesthatic of the property, giving it a village look. As we reach our rooms, it just surprised us. They were so artisitically done to suit the concept of "the leapord park"theme. Beautiful decor. All rooms have a balcony as sit out area facing the dam. There are a lot of activities that can be done: 1. Morning and evening safari in the satpura national park, it's a leopard zone. 2. Boat safari-you can come across a lot of birds, elephants, monkeys and sometimes chances are for crocodile. 3. Night safari:at the buffer zone inhouse, there is a beautiful swimming pool facing the jungle, you can get your snacks serviced there. Cozy, dam facing dining area, that serves some freshly cooked and yummmm food. Kids area to entertain kids.At night the entire resorts is lighted with lanterns, it's so beautiful and romantic. The services are just out of mind, while on morning safari, they pack breakfast for you, and at one point inside the jungle that faces the river, they park the jeep and lay our breakfast on the bonnet of the jeep. You have to visit it to believe, its just magical, its beautiful... "the denwa backwater escapes ".
