Deulti (Monument) snapshot
The village of Deulti, nestled on the riverbank of Roopnarayan, is another popular sightseeing destination of Howrah. The village known for its culture and heritage attracts people for its natural surroundings.
Nature walks along the rustic path of the village leading to the bank of River Roopnarayan is a popular activity. The shrines of Radha and Madanigopal are another attraction. This ‘eight-roofed’ or ‘atchala’ temple was built by Mukundaprasad Roychoudhury, the proprietor of Mangalhat Pragans in the 1651 AD.
Tourists can also interact with locals to gain some knowledge about the history of the location. Deulti is also famous for being the hometown of the noted Bengali novelist Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay – the author of Devdas and other novels. His home at the nearby village of Samtaber has been renovated and made public by local authorities and the Government.
