"Dharamshala is divided into 2..."

Dharamshala is divided into 2 parts. mainly lower Dharamshala and the more remote and beautiful upper Dharamshala (Mc Leod Ganj). The Club Mahindra Resort is situated in one of the most boring locations. It faces a boring lawn on one side and an Indian Oil Petrol pump on the other. its situated on the lower dharamshala which is as commercialised as it can get. I wouldn\'t recommend this place to anyone during the off season when upper dharamshala is as cheap as 900 Rupees to 2500 rupees depending on the hotel.

"We had visited this hotel..."

  • Posted Feb 25, 2009
We had visited this hotel after our journey from manali. The drive from manali had us completly exhausted and after reaching we were alloted a room facing thr road which was very irritating due to the traffic and above all there is a big petrol pump right out in front of the hotel. But i was lucky as the staff accepted my request and changed my room the next morning and what a room it was , beautifully located and had a scenic view of the snow covered mountains and the beautiful garden. My wife and daughter were very delighted and happy and we enjoyed our stay very nicely.

Best Experience: The garden situated behind the hotel is very clean and nicely maintained . It seems to be the base of the nearby mountains and the snow covered tops and open skies along with grass on your feet gives you a feeling you can never experience in the concrete jungle.

"Firstly this resort is not..."

  • Posted Nov 2, 2008
Firstly this resort is not one constructed by Club Mahindra, but an existing hotel called \'Hotel Palace Heights\' (if i recall correctly) which was aquired by them. Hence the resort looks like a hotel block, its a single building with about 3 storeys. Its location is excellent, located on lower Dharamshala with one of the best views of the snow-claed Dauladhar ranges. Mind that half the rooms face the hills while the others face the boring road and countryside, so be sure to ask for a hill-facing room if available. We had gone at the start of summer, and there was still a good snow cover on the mountains. We luckily got a hill-facing room at the top floor where the room was breathtaking, just sitting on our beds we could see the mighty Dauladhar ranges glistening with their snow cover. The hills also seem very close.. so much that one would feel we can just run across the green fields separating the hills from the resort ! Our room was good, spacious and nicely done up and lived up to the Club Mahindra standards. It was equipped with a electric heater which we didnt need to use. We missed the air-conditioning during the afternoons, when it can get quite warm during the summer. They have recently installed AC in all the rooms, so this shouldnt be a problem going forward. Noise from adjacent rooms and offices was a bit of a botheration, mainly due to the hotel-like design of the resort. The resort provides car on hire for various tour iteneraries, but we found the rates to be expensive. Fortunately we had the mobile no. of the taxi driver who had dropped us at the resort from the bus stand, and he offered better rates, so we used him for all the sight-seeing trips e.g. visits to the Kangra fort, Jwalamukhi temple, local monasteries etc

Best Experience: The best takeway from the resort was undoubtedly the view of the snow-clad Dauladhar ranges from our rooms. A picture perfect view during sunset when the snow peaks don a golden pinkish hue.. bliss !

Worst Experience: Plumbing needs improvement.. hot water supply was erratic, and the water spray from the shower was quite clumsy. Food in the restaurant is OK, but expensive and not as imaginative as in other CM resorts
