The main temple of Dharmasthala is located a kilometre west of Ratnagiri Hill and 2 km west of the new bus stand. The temple built by Birmanna Pergadem, Jain Chieftain, around 500 years ago, houses the golden Linga of Lord Shiva, who presides over the temple in the form of Shri Manjunatheshwara. Annappa Swamy. The Linga was obtained from Kadri, close to Mangalore, whose own shrine sits facing the Linga, inside the temple. Nrusimha Saligrama sits beside the linga, which is an avatara of Lord Vishnu. Also, shrines of Goddess Ammanavaru, or Parvathi, and Lord Mahaganapati, are located inside the sanctum sanctorum.
This inner circle is built out of wood, quite akin to the temples of Kerala. The temple also holds images and shrines of four Dharma Daivas - Kalarkai, Kalarahu, Kannyakumari and Kumaraswamy, adjacent to the main temple.
