The former hunting lodge styled in the Baroque architecture, Dilkhusha Kothi is a beautiful reminder of the luxury of the royalty. Picturesquely located on the banks of the river Gomti, Dilkhush Kothi was later converted to a summer palace. It was constructed by Major Gore in 1800 AD it lacked inner courtyards and was taller than most Indian buildings of that era. A multitude of beautiful landscaped gardens still surround the remnants of the elegant building. Sadly, it was shelled during the 1857 Mutiny and only a few towers and external walls remain under the care of ASI.
