Doddabetta Peak is the highest vantage point in Ooty, located at around 2,623 m. This peak is regarded as one of the highest peaks in South India, which lies at the junction of the Eastern and Western Ghats. The beautiful valley, plains of Coimbatore and the flat highlands of Mysore are visible from this point.

The Tamil Nadu Tourism Development Corporation manages a Telescope House in the Doddabetta Peak which enables the visitors to get a better view. This TTDC Telescope House gives a complete view of the surrounding landscape. There is also a TTDC restaurant, which caters to the taste of the visitors. Tourists can also indulge in trekking at the Doddabetta Peak, which is also the highest peak of the Nilgiri.

Doddabetta peak is the highest point in the nilgiri mountains range. Nilgiri is the meeting place of western and eastern ghats. Atmosphere is really awesome ... Especially in monsoon where peak is full of clouds.

Too much garbage and polythene cover thrown everywhere. Preventing measures should be taken to preserve the place. No people care about polluting the place

"Highest Peak of South India"

  • 6.0/7
  • Posted Jul 10, 2016
This peak is the highest peak of South India and provides beautiful views of the valleys. Fresh carrots, beet are available around the corner where locals display their catch. Lip smacking chaats are also available and other local stationary products for visitors to buy. The place is half covered in clouds and quite mesmerizing. It's cold out there during the morning and advised to carry a light jacket.

Best place in Ooty to see the Ooty from top of the hill and please wear winter wear if you are visiting in the morning or evening time. In winter season or rainy season, the temperature is very low at this place.

Worth a visit, a great place, really great weather, you will get drizzles, temp around 13 degrees, sometimes even less than 10 degrees. A place you should visit in Ooty, specially around between 3:30-5:30 pm.
