Doddamane is Agumbe is got a immense difference from other resorts or any five star hotels. Location is also good. Hospitality is an excellence in this place. The lady in-charge is the soul of this place. Wonderful home made food is cooked here. Overall a place must to visit.

Dodda Manne literally means a Big House- it is a ancestral home of a joint family headed by Kasturi Akka a wonderful woman .This is not a lodge or homestay which is organized to woo people but a good hearted person's venture to give travelers shelter and to provide food .There is no fixed rates they take only what is given at the end of your stay . It is a wonderful experience driving through lovely forest areas and get a good place to halt -i.e at this warm home and be pampered by them. The rooms given to you would depend on availability as there are dormitory type and smaller rooms all over the old house - but expect no privacy .

Best Experience: There was some naturalists, bikers , journalist and some adventure seekers - wild water rafters staying there during our visit and as it was raining continuosly, as it does on most days , we had fun sitting around the open central courtyard interacting with others . Kasturi Akka and family treat you just like member of the family .Simple tasty homemade vegetarian food is prepared and served at fixed times and served in plentiful with warmth .

Worst Experience: Rooms are however damp because of the weather and since it is old house some areas are dusty and not tidy .You need to be prepared for using the three common bathroom and live in a rustic style to enjoy the experience.

Dodda mane is a very old traditional house,the rooms are very clean and well maintained,Toilets & sleeping arrangements are very basic. Not recommended for people imagining a fancy homestay or a honey-moon suite!.. Food was excellent like home made food with reasonable price....overall it was a pleasant stay in this place....

Pristine western ghats and some amazing views of the mountain range can be seen from here. Experience the beauty of the malenadu here. amazing stay at this place. the place is so calm and peaceful. The famous Malgudi house is also a attraction here. Swami\'s house is right on the main road. The food here is very different but each delicacy is very very tasty. touted as one of the very few places on earth to find the giant King Cobras. Must visit for all.

The lodge is nearby the bus stand. Location is great. Food was also good . Specially liked the vegeterian food. Try south indian thali . Its delicious. While travelling to Shimoga One should also visit this lodge.
