About Dolphin's Nose

voted as clean

Dolphin's Nose is essentially a huge rock that resembles the nose of a dolphin. There are ravines on either side of Dolphin's Nose, including St. Catherine Falls and Coonoor stream meeting the Kotagiri stream. These water bodies are tributaries of the Bhavani River.

On a bright sunny day, visitors can get a glimpse of St. Catherine Falls from the top of Dolphin's Nose. The Catherine Falls is located at a distance of 7 km from Coonoor. Dolphin's Nose is ideal for outdoor games, like boating and horse riding, as well as picnics.

On the way to Dolphin's Nose, tourists can also visit Lamb's Nose in Coonoor. Dolphin's Nose is around 12 km from the main bus stand of Coonoor and encompasses the area near the Tiger Hills.

Dolphin's Nose is situated ten kilometers distance from Coonoor. We can see lot of tea estates on the way. View point is good. Lot of monkeys roaming there. We can see waterfall view from long distance. People can take photos in tea estates situated at parking area. Fruits, Spices, Tea shops are avialable for shopping. Small food joints avialable to eat. Toilet facility also available here.

"Mesmerizing Mountains"

  • 6.5/7
  • Posted Mar 10, 2016
I and my few college friends planned to go to Ooty as it is near from our college. We went there by using train and bus and while returning we took toy train. We visited several places there but among them one was Dolphin's Nose point. It is called Dolphin's Nose because the tip of the mountains looks like it and we can see gigantic mountains left and right of it. It is a must must watch place for those who want to feel the nature closely.

You should take telescope view here. You can see a hill in Dolphin Nose Shape. Place has monkeys so be careful with your belongings like camera and bags. Go there take some nice pics and just enjoy the mountains, greenery for sometime.

"Wonderful place to enjoy the weather"

This is the most beautiful place I never seen before in south India each and every part of the journey is awesome. The clouds are floating and moving on the Nilgiri mountains and the tea gardens around the Dolphin's Nose are best place for photography.

"Spectacular view from the spot"

  • 6.0/7
  • Posted Jul 12, 2015
This is really a very inspiring place to go that is really on a high spot in the Nilgiris. It is around 10 km from Coonoor and is about 1000 ft above sea level. It gives you a great view of the valley and the tea gardens. The view is truly spectacular.

"Good place"

  • 7.0/7

The view from the peak is very beautiful. Its good to visit the place at sunrise. We booked a cab and visited the place. It will take around 30 - 45 mins from Ooty Lake. Families with kids can reach there but elderly should take care of the kids as there are steep rise at the point.
