Dolphin's Nose, a mammoth rocky headland rises 174m
above the sea and is a most prominent landmark of Visakhapatnam. Situated in the south of the
bustling port city, the rocky promontory is a popular tourist destination.
Resembling a dolphin's nose, this unusual rock formation is nicely placed at an
altitude of 358 m with its projection into the Bay of
Bengal.
A lighthouse stands majestically on the headland
and serves as a navigational aid for passing ships with its powerful light beam
being visible as far as 64 kms out into the sea. You get a panoramic view of
the city from here.
