The main purpose of our visit was to refresh and renew ourselves after a hectic schedule for over a quarter. A well known fact to all, Aug - Dec is the right time to visit a place like chikmagalur where one can experience serenity and feel closely associated with nature. A must to experience view is when, the mist clears up and the nature presents its beauty to you - similar to that of any fashion show ;);) This is how we all felt "Love at first sight DOOPADACOOL"...The entire property is very well maintained and is under the supervision of the owner himself (who stays with his family in doopadacool ) The owner firstly ushered us to the hall explaining the do's and dont's. He (Vinay ) was very to the power of infinity co-operative and supportive in accommodating all your requests. Advice to travelers visiting doopadacool...There is no room for fights or nuisance, doing so, would defeat the purpose of your visit and a shame to Nature of God ! I vividly recall the party went on till 2 in the morning ( Reminds me of the song: Abhi tho party shuru hui hai.... ;);) The owner never even bothered to turn up even once and decreed us to reduce the volume...We enjoyed every moment of our stay at Doopadacool and shall cherish it for the rest of our lives ! Don't be a haggler as its worth the price you pay for your stay, food and trekking. All that I wanna say is " Doopadacool is the place to flush out all your stress " !!!
This homestay is about 18 km from the main city of chikmagalur. This has both plus and minuses. If you just want to relax without being disturbed then this is a place for you. However, if you want to travel to many places like Mullayanagiri, Baba Budan, Kudremukh, you will always have to travel to city first and then visit these places. We had a very good stay and as we did not want to visit many places, we found the homestay very appealing. The food was good and bonfire every evening makes it special. There is a small water fall nearby within their estate and the owner was kind enough to take us there. Very personalized and we joined the fall very much. Overall a very good place to stay. Good part was that all phone signals were present and GPS also worked perfectly fine. So no chance of losing your way. The activities were less in this homestay.
It's a home stay. They'll cook whatever you order, they have a menu. Room was neat, clean and very spacious with good house keeping services and basic amenities in working condition. There are no activities here. It?s a good place to relax.
I had stayed at this place about 4 yrs back & it was a grt experience. If you looking for lot of activity then this is not the place for you. But if you are looking to relax a very ideal place to stay. The rooms are absolutely spick & span & the owner of the place is a nice guy. He is a doctor but doesn't talk about it. But in case of a problem he is very much there & this help is needed if you have children or elderly people with you & you decide to go & stay at a remote place. The food that was served was excellent & I had to request them not to waste so much food as too much was being served. But the owner was very reluctant as his version some of them later complain about it. The food served was excellent as it was very traditional stuff. If after going over there we are looking for city stuff then this is the wrong place to go. Over all a beautiful place & very quiet. If you are looking for a quiet week end then the right place to go... Saw someone criticising & thought I should put the record straight. I definetly recommend this place. My first experience at a home stay was well worth it
We had been to this homestay recently (Aug 2013) and found that this is NOT a good place to stay for the reasons below. 1. The owner has a separate dining room outside the homestay for the guests. Nothing will be served in the dining area inside the house for simple reasons like you spill the food on their table/marble flooring. Even coffee and tea will only be served in the outside dining room. You are supposed to drink that there and enter the house. You are treated as prisoner and not as a guest! 2. Hot water is available all the time but you are not supposed to open the hot water and cold water tap simultaneously which means that you cannot have a shower. You need to fill the buckets with water and take bath. There is a notice put for this in the bathroom and the owner instructs this on your arrival. 3. The food is very bad. The cook does not know many dishes just in case you ask him to make something for you. Only limited varieties are available in the breakfast, lunch and dinner. I would not recommend this if you have kids and old people in the trip. Service is pathetic. If you ask for anything more, they hesitate to bring it and have no courtesy. Tissue paper is not kept in the dining room. You need to ask for it every time and they give only limited papers. 4. Rooms are big but no good interiors inside. You feel like you are in a hospital and not at home. The bed is hard and the blankets are in bad condition. Bathrooms are dirty with taps broken and no proper lights. This place is not worth the money you pay. I have seen better homestays at Chikmagalur for the price that you pay here.
Its a nice and clean homestay. Myson had a small accident as he slipped off the stairs and had a cut under his eys, and the owner Mr Vijay, immediately arranged for the first aid kit. On one occassion, he also arranged for a particular medicine. However, the food served by them is very very average. We do have to acknowledge that he allowed us to use the kitchen to make meals for our kids. Overall, a pleasant experience.
Though this home stay is 17 km far from the Chickmagalur town but after reaching there it takes all my anxiety away. Spacious, very clean, full of greens and very calm place. It was 12 noon we checked in, the owner was on-board to well comes us. The room given to us is quite big with queen size bed and attached bath room. the room & bathroom was neatly cleaned. The food served was typical south indian but they are tasty, healthy and ample quantity. They provide clean aquaguard water. As next day we were out for the sight seeing, they packed our lunch. There was bonfire and light snacks provided at the evening. We had a good time in Doopad Cool.
A very neat and clean accommodation with good and helping staff, who will always listen to the guests and will cook whatever you feel like and whatever be the time. Very beautiful view of the valley from the place.
