Secret Lake or Durgam Cheruvu is a popular destination in Hyderabad. Durgam Cheruvu is situated nearby Shilparamam Crafts Village and Hitec City, behind Jubilee Hills.

The name Durgam Cheruvu stands for ‘Secret Lake’. Durgam Cheruvu is a lake surrounded by granite rocks in the form of hills and mammoth rocks, which covers about 63 acres of land. This rock formation, which is about 2500 million years old, is a popular picnic spot as it has been converted in to a Sculpture Park with artificial waterfalls and a floating fountain. The rock formation on the eastern side of the lake has been transformed in to a green belt with about 2 km pathway, and seating arrangements.

Boating, trekking, fishing and rock climbing can be done at Secret Lake. Refreshments are available on the eastern side of the lake. Secret Lake, by night, transforms to an outdoor venue for the local youth.

Durgam cheruvu is an average place to visit. Water is very dirty, boats are old, not at all maintained. It's an okay place to visit. But it's has a nice surrounds with mountains and tree. Apart from that it's not worth visiting here. Can avoid this place

"The secret lake"

  • 5.00/7

Durgam Cheruvu means secret lake. It is actually a dirty lake sitting at the backyard of the IT hub of Hyderabad. But lately, with the efforts of the local population and NGOs this has become a nice picnic spot in the city.

"Secret lake, but very beautiful"

  • 5.50/7

Durgam Cheruvu is a paradise for trekkers. You can find stretch of boulders where you can learn basics of trekking. There isn't any official organization who organizes the treks but you can always find someone or the other. Durgam Cheruvu in itself means Secret Lake. Once upon a time this area was covered with trees, therefore the lake was hidden. But now there is Inorbit Mall right next to it. If you want you can also spend a leisurely evening on the open sitting area in the malls itself which is facing this lake. And if you are really too enthusiastic about the lake itself then there is provision of boating as well. Neither the lake nor the boating service is well maintained therefore do it at your own risk.
