At night, we found it a little difficult to get to Eagle Eye. We missed a few sign boards. That apart, the entire experience @ Eagle Eye was extremely pleasant. A nice badminton court at the welcomes all guests. So, there is stuff to do apart from plantation walks :)! As soon as we reached, we were greeted by the extremely friendly & pleasant staff with our welcome drink and details of our designated rooms. We got to live in two exec. villas. The villas are really nice. The verandah has a hammock/ swing...ideal to spend the warm, lazy afternoons. They are very clean inside with 2 double beds, 1 wardrobe & attached bathroom. The food at Eagle Eye is basic, but tasty. Much like our regular home cooked meals. This is served at set times during the day at their dining hall. At tea time, there is tea/coffee with some light snacks. @ Eagle Eye, we skipped the Jungle Safari. Instead we opted for a tour of the plantation. One of the oldest members of the plantation took us on a tour. He knew the name, age and variety of almost every plant/ weeds in the property. We got to sample some truly amazing spices (cardamon, vanilla etc). The taste and flavor was something we just cannot get from the spices we buy off the shelves in the cities. We got educated of the entire coffee growing process, the coffee varieties etc. Later in the day, we walked down to a small lake to ride their coracle - Two people per coracle. Put on our life vests & we are ready to row. Previously we had only experienced sitting in a coracle. This was the first time we experienced rowing it ourselves. Its great fun!! So, besides badminton, there is a carrom board that can be borrowed for some time. We spent the post lunch, warm, lazy afteroon in the verandah of our cottage. Swinging in the hammock, chatting about things, playing carrom. Post tea time we sat in a \'machan\' like place - overlooking the hills, slowly watching the sun set. The view is very good. The entire property of Eagle Eye is spread over many acres. Even walking around, exploring the property is a good way to spend time. Walk up to the gazebo at night to see a star drenched sky in the silence; Walk up to the tree house; go down to the lake; sit in the machan... Do whatever. But DO NOT FORGET to taste their home made orange juice. Its the most refreshing, most tasty orange juice we ever had.
A humble beginning (the way it looks) by a 130-acre coffee plantation owner , this resort is gonna go places. Extremely well designed and most thoughtful management. They have made good use of the plains and heights by dividing the resort beautifully into different parts and have created cluster of cottages meant for group stays. This area secludes the group and gives them absolute private space with an EXCLUSIVE tree-top-type restaurant. The management is flexible to let the group use this restaurant, which overlooks the best of the nature\'s bounty, through the day (like they did for the group I travelled with :-) \'Home-cooked food\' might sound cliche - but that is the closest definition for the food served in the resort. Simple no-frill Breakfasts + sumptuos lunch. Dinner can get little creative like in one of the evenings when the resort got all residents together for a bonfire evening. Chatting with the owner re-established our desire to come back for more since he is planning to add a common open pool and HOLD YOUR BREATH four exclusive chalets/cottages with an indoor pool+glass house - a prefect place for a common group! Damn easy on the wallet, for the moment, they might get expensive since it is just a question of time for the word-of-mouth to make them bullish with the popularity growing. Hence make a trip before you think too much. Awesome weekend holiday from Bangalore! Enjoy MADI!
We wanted to give ourselves a Tree-House experience hence we decided to go to the Resort...the drive to the resort after Chikmaglur is quite a lot of distance which is actually further than is explained by the staff...the Resort has a very nice feel and a great view of the hills from the dining hall...the Tree House was pretty comfortable... the Eco friendliness of the structure was very enticing...the staff were friendly and the food was homely... they catered to our requests for specific dishes of the region...overall it was a very good weekend getaway...
We had been to Eagle Eye for our honeymoon; and our honeymoon was made special by our host. The location was absolutely beautiful. The scenery was just breath taking. The food was simple, yet delicious. The pricing of the food was also reasonable. And most importantly the hospitality was simply amazing. The best part about Eagle Eye was that we never felt like we were guests more like family. The owner, Mr. Monis, welcomed us personally, and when we left he even gave us a few complimentary assortments from his orchard/estate. The home-made wine is worth trying, and so is the Ayurvedic massage. In-fact, all the programs and activities planned are very interesting, a welcome change from daily routine. The only thing I would do differently the next time around would be that I'd stay for a longer duration of time.
we were 4 friends looking out for a weekend stay in a resort at chikmagulur for more than a week.. saw couple of resorts & homestays and ended up in Eagle eye... We didnt have much expectations except good food & decent room... Eagle eye fulfilled our expectations on more than a satisfactory level.. we opted Glasshouse with indoor swimming pool.. believe me.. it was awesome.. nice view from the room.. isolated..peaceful... really enjoyed the stay for reasonable price... if u are more than 3 .. u can bargain and get the price down for multi-sharing which we didnt expect. only disadvantage what we felt is that we didnt have any tourist spot to go within 40 kms from the resort... but if u are looking for peaceful stay with good food and amenities.. my vote is for Eagle Eye..
