About Echo Point (View point)

voted as clean

Echo Point is situated about 13 km away from Munnar town, towards the Top Station or Top Slip. Echo Point is a phenomenon found in most of the hill stations. Munnar also has an Echo Point at a scenic lake bank. At Echo Point, people can clearly hear their loud voice echoing within the reservoir.

Echo Point is also a picnic spot where tourists as well as natives love to stroll along the misty green slopes of the lake. Nature walks at Echo Point is a popular activity. Also, tourists can go for trekking through the nearby coffee, tea and spice plantations and grasslands. Cool breeze along with calm serene surroundings make Echo Point a favourite place among wayfarers.

"Usual echo point and the view is same as mattupetty dam"

  • 7.0/7
  • Posted Jan 4, 2017
The place is similar to any echo point, only thing is it is located at the banks of the dam.
Boating facility is available and other small vendors selling fruits and other eatables.
The place is located en-route to mattupetty direction, and is similar to the mattupetty dam.
It was crowded when we visited the place and there are parking problems with the place as it located exactly on the road side.
No proper parking faciliity.

"The name says it all!"

We had some fun in this place shouting and screaming at this beautiful place. You can clearly hear your echo if you scream loud enough. But watch out for monkeys which may be hanging around. :)

"A must see place in Kerala"

Visited most of the tourist attractions of Munnar, Rose Garden was a nice one. Tata tea museum was a memorable one. The presentation was excellent. Mattupetty Dam, Top station, many falls, all were a new experience.

"Good spot to explain echoes to children"

  • 4.0/7
  • Posted May 17, 2016
The echoing happens across the river. When one shouts from one bank there is echo from the other bank. One can also hear multiple echoes if one shouts in the right direction :-).

There is a toilet facility in the vicinity although not very clean.

There are vendors all over the place and there is enough to eat from the stalls. No proper restaurant is available.

"Scenic beauty"

  • 6.5/7
  • Posted May 6, 2016
Even though 65 steps to walk to the point location is very attractive. On the way to Echo point we can enjoy the Scenic beauty. We 7 member team visited this place on 12th April 2016. All are Sr. citizen except our niece and grand children. But all of them enjoyed the trip. The fee is very reasonable Rs. 25/- per Adult. Round about 34 km away fro Munnar town.

We got a rain hence we could not steps further where the cinema shooting was held. We have to park our vehicles one and half kilometer away from the destination. Very greenery hills will give mind blowing experience.

"Good one"

Very good place to enjoy with your family. Loved this place. At summer this waterfall doesn't have too much water and hence pulls less crowd. But that is advantage for peace lovers. One can take a bath as well. Bathroom and locker facilities are available. In monsoon the water level increases and it's not safe for bath anymore. Very good place for nature lovers and photographers too.

"Awesome place"

  • 7.0/7

Its could be the best place in Munnar only if people stop shouting for the echo of their voice. Serene and calm lake with the huge vegetation behind makes this place a very special place for the nature lovers.
