About Eco Tourism Park

voted as clean
Eco Tourism Park is an urban park situated in Rajarhat. Spread over an area of 480 acres and surrounded by 104 acres of water bodies, this park was inaugurated in December 2012 by Mamata Banerjee.
Locally known as Prakriti Tirtha, this park has ecological zones, theme gardens and urban recreational spaces. The ecological zones include wetlands, grasslands and forests. The Eco Park is further sub divided depending on the type of flora planted. There are different areas exclusive for wild flower meadows, bamboo gardens, grasslands, tropical tree gardens, bonsai gardens, rose gardens, tea gardens, cactus, and butterfly gardens. An amphitheatre and boating facilities are also available.
Eco Tourism Park is open on weekdays from 2 pm to 8 pm and on Sundays and public holidays from 12 pm to 10 pm. The park remains closed on Monday for maintenance.
The other attractions near Eco Tourism Park are The Four Fountains Spa, Eden Gardens and Central Park.
This is the best place for people who want to spend some leisure time with their families under natural eco-friendly surroundings. One can travel by car or bus to the Eco Tourism Park from the city limits of Kolkata.

"It's huge but lacks activities"

  • 5.5/7

Ecopark is the latest major tourist attraction in town. Its all season destination whether with friends or with families. Huge stretch and lots of greenaries around. Also maintenance is good but I disliked the fact that there is no separate lane for cycles or motor carts. You will hear people ringing cycle bells or cart is honking asking for pass while you are trying to walk peacefully.

If someone prefers to see varieties of flowers then be there during advent of spring. Butterfly garden has no butterflies and park lacks any activities. Daily musical fountain show at 6. 55pm and 7. 20pm.

Few food stalls are available. Parking fee is exorbitant at flat INR 50!! Entry fee is INR 10 per adult and children above 3 years.

Many construction is going inside the park and eco lodge is also under construction for tourists. The attraction has great potential to be world class and a great initiative by local authority. Like many countries for such attraction will prefer to have yearly pass for families for those frequent visits.

"Clean, well maintained activity park"

  • 5.5/7
  • Posted Dec 11, 2014
Visited twice till date. It is very clean and well maintained. The tandem cycle, boat rides, etc are fun although a little expensive. Cycles for Rs. 150/- for 20 mts and boat ride Rs. 150/- half an hour. Not too crowded even on weekends. Food isn't anything to write home about and is of the usual samosa, chips variety. Wonderful place for kids, with lots of activities, and a refreshing outdoor place for parents and grandparents. Ample parking, but be prepared to walk a lot.

Eco Park is a great picnic spot, the park is set around a lake with gardens around it.
The highlights of the park is the rose garden, tropical tree garden and the children's park, there are tea, snack stalls and cafe to buy food.
I especially like boating and the Zorbing activities there.

"One of its own kind"

  • 7.0/7

It is a huge park and one of its kind opened very recently. I just loved the concept in totality. You will find everything over here grasslands, urban forest, bamboo garden, tea gardens, fruits garden, tropical tree garden, than there is a path to stroll which is full of cactus called cactus walk, but my favorite was bonsai garden and butterfly garden. We went on a Sunday evening and had great fun. Entry charges are very nominal. There is a very good food court as well. We also had fun at the eco island went for paddle boating, zorbing and speed boating. There are never ending activities over here. A must visit place.

Eco Tourism Park is created on a 480 acres of land which has a huge water body with an island in the middle. There are hundreds of species of plants and flowers in the park. It is a very good place to spend some time in relaxation and hang out with friends.
