About Ethipothala Waterfall (Water Fall)

Ethipothala Waterfall is a famous mountain stream, which falls from a height of approximately 21.3 m into a lagoon. Three streams, namely Nakka Vagu, Tummala Vagu and Chandravanka Vagu combine to form this waterfall. There is also a crocodile-breeding centre at this site that attracts numerous travellers.

Ethipothala Waterfall is located at a distance of around 15 miles from Nagarjunasagar Dam and houses few caves that extend till Srisailam. This site is on the route to Macherla and has facilities like guesthouses for the travellers.

  • 5.0/7
  • Posted Jul 19, 2016
Ethipothala Waterfall is one of the best tourist attractions to visit near Hyderabad. Its also a popular waterfall around Hyderabad is formed by the mountain streams and falls from a height of approx 70 feet into a lagoon. The surrounding of Ethipothala is breathtaking but at this time the waterfall is totally dried may be due to off season.

"Absolutely eye-catching scenery with beautifulwaterfall"

  • 6.0/7
  • Posted Mar 15, 2016
Very recently I have been to this place. The scenery was absolutely eye-catching. The beauty of that place is that we can see waterfalls from the top and we can go down to water place if we want to. We played in that water and rocks. And water are crystal clear. It will be good choice to hangout with friends.

It was a great experience for me in my tenth visited this place with my family. The only negative point is it is not much developed. But there was crocodile attack two years ago before my visit which killed 2 college students. On a whole it was very good because low expensive and affordable.

"Very good place for all age people"

Very good place for all age people and also rooms are there for night stay from AP Tourism. At night musical lights are focussed at waterfalls which was the special attraction. Also don't miss to see caves which we can see in day time.

"Awesome experience, Worth a visit"

  • 6.5/7

Dont expect to play in water, its just see and enjoy spot. The Water Falls is the only one close to Hyderabad and the height is around 50 meters. Water Flow is better during rainy season. After looking around and taking snaps we went down to the place where the water falls and then flows like a small stream. It is a good place to wet yourself and have some fun. Do take guide from tourism department otherwise, you will not understand history behind these places.

"Nature's surprise"

  • 5.0/7
  • Posted Sep 2, 2014
Waterfalls are worth visiting if you go to Nagarjuna Sagar Dam.
The place is approx 11Kms from dam.
This place is only for viewing and photography but you cannot take bath or go inside waterfall. Crocodiles are reported in the water.
Govt have maintained a good garden in this nature's surprise. Falls are approx 70 feet in height. While watching falls you will be at the top and can see water falling down unlike most of the place where you are at bottom.
At the time of reaching the place, I was not expecting such a wonderful surprise. Waterfalls were good to see and photograph.
Fee was quite normal (Rs.20 per human head, monkeys free: P) and low. I guess the maintenance costs more than the cost of ticket.
Towards sunset, these waterfalls are illuminated with colourful lights, but the connecting road to this place is dark and you may find yourself alone, so it doesn't feels safe to visit this place in night or not even in evening.
There is a small restaurant between gardens where we had lunch at a reasonable but bit costly price.
There were lot of monkeys so be sure you do not carry food items carelessly in your hand.
In parking lot, local lads charge/beg approx Rs. 5-10 for saving your vehicle from monkeys.
Outside waterfalls, you can have orange juice, corn, water etc.
Overall I will rate this place as 6 out of 10 and is a must watch for those who visit Nagarjuna Sagar Dam.

"Nice place, but needs change in entry fee"

  • 5.0/7
  • Posted Nov 7, 2013
This falls should be seen during the rainy season as it will be full at that time and one can have a wonderful view of the whole Falls. Its illuminated also during the night times and that will be an added attraction. But the Govt. should do something about the monkey menace and the fees. Hardly a furlong or two away from the main road, the forest dept collects fees at the entrance to the Falls road and there is entry fee again at the falls, within two furlongs. I think they should remove one of them and make it more attractive to the general public. Unless the govt. takes a positive step towards containing monkeys here, this will not be a popular place.
