"Chef Tanaji is a magician..."
- Posted Sep 20, 2010
Chef Tanaji is a magician and entirely self-taught. He is one of those classical chefs who try to tease the palate and satisfy the soul and do not go for what is written in cook books. The high point of the hotel is the food. The good service goes along with it but until they found out that I was very happy with the food during my first breakfast, none of the staff were smiling. However, then it was smiles all the way. The front office is almost surly with a cock-sure attitude being from the number one brand in hospitality in India. The food is so good that I could not find a single flaw in the whole spread ever in the hotel. The grilled fish was just right and retained that light fishy smell which is disgusting to people who don\'t like fish but eat it. At the same time, he had managed to make it soft and not entirely bland. I like fish and I liked this new taste. The rashers were done just right. The sausages were so soft and not burned even once. The poha was delicious, so was the upma. The french toast was pudgy and spongy like a small pillow and lovely and made you crave for syrup or something similar. The fruit were cut right and were just right in the ripeness department. Room service is courteous, prompt and efficient. The toilets at the lobby are too ad hoc. Maybe that is a temporary phenomenon.
Best Experience: Chef Tanaji showing his genuine pleasure when I expressed the satisfaction I gained from his art. His colleague kept piling me with green tea.
Worst Experience: The front office is not too welcoming
