It was an wonderful experience to have stayed in this hotel. Above everything else it was the smiling and ever ready to help attitude of Mr. Jeff Mistry, proprietor of the hotel. Other service people starting from reception desk to room service providers all are lovely people and they truly believe in service with a smile with no complaining attitude at all. Hotel is located very close to mall and is a stone's throw distance from historic Keventers. We were given a room at the 3rd floor but that cannot be an issue since none of the hotels in Darjeeling, I guess has a lift and one need to be prepared to take pain of such things especially when one is visiting a hill station. Rooms were impeccably clean and in its first appearance you will simply love. Rooms have wide open windows with view of the Darjeeling town and the hills surroundings all around. Though they have a restaurant of their own which is equally good in terms of its interior and ambiance but we preferred our meals outside except for a couple of times. They suggest the boarders not to have food in the room except for elderly and other such persons which is appreciable and it get reflected in the maintenance of rooms and linens. Bathrooms are quite spacious, very clean and has 24 hours hot and cold water. I would suggest them to work a little on the food quality which can be better. I would strongly recommend others to stay in this hotel. It is very much approachable by car if one is travelling and doesn't need to walk or hire porter to access the hotel.
I booked this hotel for 7 of my friends. They were in 2 rooms (one 3 bedded and one four bedded. As per them - This hotel is 10 mins walking from mall road so away from crowded markets and hustle bustle yet very convenient to commute and cosy place to stay. Peculiarly warm accommodation, warmer service, warmest gestures, pleasant stay and best decision.
the stay at fairmont was really good. the location of the hotel is just perfect as its very near the mall and away from the noise also. the staff of the hotel were really helpful will go all the way to make the stay better.
First of all, the location is awesome. It is very near to the much hyped mall. One of the special features of this hotel is that one gets to see the Mountain Kunchenjanga from their bedroom. All you just need to do is to move the curtains aside. Staff are also very cordial. They try to comfort you every now and then with their services.
We are on a holiday to Darjeeling in May2013. We had reviewed online like many others and finally shortlisted this Hotel Fairmont. Location wise it is comparatively near to the market and there are many hotels also available around this area. Though the Charges per night appeared little high, for the room they have provided for four of us, the room is maintained well. Hot water is available all through the day. One drawback is Hotel itself do not have restaurant and depends on restaurants around if the food is ordered. But the hotel manager is very much helpful in giving the details of availability of good food around. The other problem is the TV power is cut off on both the nights we stayed around 11:00 PM which is not justice to the amount they charge, though some of us complained they cited there is voltage fluctuations and cannot be repaired then. The same thing happening for both the days is not Justifiable. We have visited around Darjeeling and Mainly we reached hotel from NJP to Darjeeling via Mirik is one of the good memories. Many people might know the days when the places around darjeeling will be closed, Even we enquired before our trip regarding this. But one thing most people missed to say is the Rope way in Darjeeling, the day we visited is the Maintenance day, 19th of every month. So whoever plans to visit around darjeeling keep your local trips for Ropeway on other days, In any case one day or two is enough to go around Darjeeling. There are lot of local Cabs available and the stand not far away from our stay. They charge reasonably but with little bargain you can get them at lower rates.
