Falaknuma Palace Overview

Ranked 12 of 410 sightseeing in Hyderabad

One of the finest palaces of Hyderabad, the Falaknuma Palace is located atop a hill at an elevation of 2000 ft earning its name the Mirror of the Sky.

This beautiful palace consisting of 220 extravagantly decorated rooms and 22 spacious halls was built by an Italian architect for the fifth Paigah Emir and later bought over by Nizam VI who used it as a guest house for royalty.

Feel the grandeur of royalty as you walk down the halls decorated with 40 of the largest and most exquisite Venetian chandeliers. The Nizam was an avid traveler, and the palace has some of the finest collections of paintings, statues, furniture, manuscripts and books from around the world. The Jade collection and the Collection of Holy Quran are considered to be very unique. Explore the scorpion shaped wings of the palace and discover ornate fountains and treasures of a bygone era.

A magnificently carved walnut roof covers the library and is said to be a replica of the one at Windsor Castle. Feel the opulence of royalty in the huge dining hall where the tableware is made of gold and crystal and which can accommodate 100 guests on a single table. The ballroom contains a two-ton manually operated organ, said to be the only one of its kind in the world. The treasures in the Palace are a feast for the eyes and a visit is well worth it.

Heritage tour makes you feel like a Maharaja

It was a memorable tour, felt royal. Got dressed in formals and went in the evening. The palace guided tour was very knowledgeable. The grand dinner was sumptuous. Full marks to Taj group for maintaining it so well.

Feel Royalty and be treated the same way

Dining in a royal palace and being treated as the Nizam's esteemed guest is just the silver lining to Falaknuma Palace. The Palace itself is wonderful with stables and a grand entrance outside and an even charming inside.' Falaknuma means mirror of the sky.' One needs to book prior to going to Falaknuma Palace. It would cost approximately Rs 2000 per person for dinner or lunch hence would be apt for romantic special occasions. There are two amazing restaurants at Falaknuma one with Italian cuisine and one with Indian food. There are stay options also at Falaknuma for those interested in having a royal experience. The experience at Falaknuma rekindled the little girl in me who had wanted to become a princesses.

Truly Magnificent

It is about 5km ahead of Charminar, once upon a time owned by Nizams designed by an English Architect. This heritage property is one of the most beautiful palaces of our country and now converted into a star hotel by Taj groups of hotels. Something which I appreciated the most among everything else is the collection of chandeliers this palace has. The paintings, statues, furniture books everything speaks out a loud that what stature of king Nizams were India. This place is truly magnificent.
