Top Reviews of Fateh Prakash Palace
We stayed at Fateh Prakash Palace from 20-23rd June 2015 in Dovecote room. The room was spacious, clean and neat. Ask for a room on 3rd floor (from ground) or higher for a good view of the lake. Usually the room number series of such rooms is in 600s. For a spacious feel, ask for a room with 3 windows (i. E. No wall facing the lake). Those room is the USP of the hotel. The housekeeping here is very good. Rooms are cleaned to a shine everyday and evening. Clean linens and towels are replaced and they leave these sweet chocolate boxes on the bed. The in room Wi-fi had some issues while we were there but a wired internet computer was available at front desk if needed in case of emergency. I being vegetarian, we only tried the vegetarian fare here. Subz biryani was brilliant, aromatic, not heavily spiced, moist and a good raita to pair with. Breakfast is OK though the location compensates for it. Dinner at their sunset deck is pretty romantic with the view of the lake and the various lighted structures in and around the lake. The hotel is located in the city palace complex, which is quite huge and houses various museums, the darbar hall, the sound and light show and another hotel shiva niwas. Do take time to explore these. They also offer a ferry ride in the lake and take you to Jag mandir hotel, which has beautiful views from its restaurant and lots of backdrops/spots to click individual photos [for dp]. The lake facing restaurant at Jag Mandir is a place where you can spend an entire afternoon just gazing at the lake and sipping one of their cocktails and wine. They also have a spa there, though did not get an opportunity to try it. Overall, there is a lot of walking around to be done in the resort and in Udaipur, so carry a good pair of sports shoes. And I would suggest that you explore on foot. There is a lot of beauty and detail to take in here.
This hotel is a part of actual fort located on Lake Pichola. The hospitality was awesome and never heard. I was there in suite on the 4th floor. Luckily my room has a little jharokha ( a Place to sit out ) and watch the sun set. This place has experienced the shooting of james bond film (the octopussy) and very nicely preserved. U will have an awesome time in the morning when you will to terrace for breakfast. However the rates are slightly on higher side but its worth it. Once you are the guest of the hotel then you will have the complimentary passes of city palace and museum etc. Also you will feel like Royal
A trip to Udaipur centers around Lake Picchola, and the Fateh Prakash is perfectly located on the banks of the lake, right next door to the city palace. You look right across at the Taj Lake Palace. The rooms are well restored and are spacious and comfortable, with a small separate seating area, and excellent views of the lake. The hotel has a nice open air restaurant/bar which overlooks the lake as well, and is an nice place to take in the sunset. The city palace is a short walk away, and is a must visit - do use a guide. There are some nice restaurants near by, such as Amraai. The sister hotel, the Jag Mandir Palace (also situated in the lake) is open for dinner in its restaurant overlooking the lake - worth a visit too.
In simple words- it is a royal hotel. Literally, I really enjoyed the stay here. From appearance to its location, from rooms to delicious food, I really enjoyed. It was a delightful experience. The location is very good. Since it is near to the lake thus the lake view can be perfectly captured. The furniture and the rooms itself give a royal touch. The front office was good. Moreover, such a royal treatment in such a affordable prices. I went to Udaipur when I went for a trip to Jaipur-Udaipur and Mount Abu so I was having less time. But really looking forward to visit Udaipur with my family and stay in this hotel again.
