About Fort Aguada

Fort Aguada was constructed with an aim to prevent Goa from the attack of the invaders in the early 16th century, by the Portuguese. It is a strong belief that the fort was a grandstand of 79 cannons. The freshwater spring in the fort supplied water to the ships that used to halt at the port. A beautiful view of the adjoining beaches, located on the borderline of Maharashtra can be enjoyed.

The fort is also famous for its architecture, which includes the well known four-storey lighthouse, constructed in 1864.
