GMVN Skiing & Tourist Resort, Auli
I went to this hotel in month January 2017. Overall, experience was good at this hotel. I went for holiday visit with my family. The destination was excellent. My hotel location was excellent. The hotel appearance was excellent from interior. Booking and front office was excellent, as it is well designed and well maintained. I booked the room through Astha holiday. The service was excellent; as the staffs will provide water and food supply and room cleaning was very good. The room was excellent, as it is worm with centralized room heater. The food was excellent in quality and taste and also they provide complimentary breakfast. There was bar facility was available. I will recommend this hotel is good to other travellers.
Up in Himalayas at eye catching location this resort stands to welcome one and all. This is managed by the government and provided with all basic facilities. Road is little scary and this became more dangerous when cab driver tells you that this area is not covered by insurance. Yet who could stop us when there's divine calling. Only thing we did that removed some warm clothes to make us lighter. And tell you .. we shivering in chill reached at the top and only masala tea could warm us up. The view of haathi parvat is breathtaking. Must visit ... at least once in life time. Winter games are exceptional here.
Only one word to say superb experience. Perfect to visit at any time ⌚⌛ too good superb very thing is fine accommodation antique one cool place 😎 Suoerb superb super nice place good for old and new married couples and off sale persons too good nice.
What a location , I can never forget. When I visited it was all covered with snow. Nearly 6-8 inch ice all over the place. Resort was so cosy with two room heaters inside that it was a treat to watch from the window and experience snowfall if one don't want to go outside. Electric kettle was inside if one want to have tea or coffee.Room service was just a call away and was really quick keeping the enviorment in mind. Resort Building n Mess gives a feel was a big colleges long corridors and a eating zone. I really like the ambiance. Food was good specially Allo ke parathe and puri sabji. Its a treat to eat warm served food in such a cold weather. Skiing was there just out side one has to trek just 100meters for it. Cost wise its very effective with complementary breakfast. I suggest you to stay and enjoy the enviorment and have a pleasant stay. Don't forget to keep Sweater and jackets coz GMVN provides blankets and not those :p.
I would like to visit again and again in that area... It's a very good experience ever seen in the garhwal.... I was experienced snow fall that time... Also accommodation, hospitality also satisfactory...also got pure veg it's also very good for me as a pure vegetarian... Also auli it's really fantastic to spend holidays... Problem is only of transportation.... It will take too much time due to mountainous, hilly surface... But overall it's worth for me... Yes I recommend it

After a nine hour long, bumpy and tiring journey from Hrishikesh to Auli we finally reached by late evening to Auli, to our surprise we get to know that there was a power cut in the entire region of Auli and Joshimath (later I learned that this is very normal in the region). But luckily we had our bookings with the GMVN which were the only ones in the area (apart from the Cliff Top which did not fit in our budget) to provide us with a 24 hrs generator. The much excited destination started to disappoint us at first but the commendable service the hotel provided even in the odds made our stay memorable. Though there's a lot to climb in the thin air there to reach the rooms as the hotel is scaled over a contoured site, but the facilities that were provided including good food and hot water when ever asked for, were above my expectations. The Restaurant was neat and tidy and had a good menu - thought Punjabi food and alu parathas were the patent in the region. During the stay we discovered that the climate was totally unpredictable. We did a practice Skiing session in the afternoon and to our surprise we were sweating - though it was covered with snow all over but the layer of cloths we had on us the exercise done during the skiing made us sweat. By evening 6 it got very windy as if it would rain heavily. The winds got stronger by late evening and we hit the rooms, switched on the heater and spent time playing cards. The out side view was so beautiful with shear darkness all around amidst the mountains and clouds. In my 2 days stay (without electricity) I also visited the neighboring Hotels but nothing matched the quality of rooms and facilities these people were providing. Except the 6-8 impressive yellow cottage resort named Royal Village but the cottages were real tiny with tiny bathrooms. The only plus point was they were entirely in wood which naturally created warmth inside. But they didn't had any generator facilities. The restaurant they had served good food too. Which can be tried if you are bored eating at the same place again and again. Next if I plan to visit Auli I am definitely going to book with the GMVN only. Do not forget - Carry proper woolen wears and raincoats/ umbrellas as the climate is totally unpredictable. You get gumboots and woolen jackets on rent too. Apart from Skiing the best thing to do at Auli is to spend time with the locals there and get more to learn the way they live at this beautiful location throughout the year.
We had booked our ente itenary thru GMVN and it was a very wise decison!. The hotel was suitably equiped for the cold ( we were there over 26th-28th Dec. ) . The only msing element was the absence of snow!!. The location of the resort and access to small trekking trails is a positive. There is very little to do in Auli. We treked. Took the chair lift and trekd more!. And we walked around for miles!!. Do not expect " entertainment" in the resort beyond a TV. But that is the point of comming to Auli. Just enjoy the outdoors. The hotel ensures you sleep well and stay warm!
Auli itself is in a beautiful location and this GMVN was the venue of SAF Winter Games in Jan, 2011. So, the infrastructure was improved tremendously and that was reflected in the price as well! :) This was the costliest GMVN we have stayed during this 10-day trip. Rooms are very well equipped with heating appliances. Food was good but we lost the touch of \'home-made\' at this place- it was more like a restaurant. We could also manage to get some gloves etc from the staff while going for a trek. We would definitely come back here during our next trip to Uttarakhand.
Hi backpackers and all the snow lovers, if you have limited budget and leisure, but have desire to burn your calories amidst of chilling peaks of great Himalayas covered by puffy snow. Then Auli is the only place where you will get all that you have fantasize, to make your winter holidays memorable and experience the same what you only watching in an idiot box. For stay GMVN resort either at Auli or Joshimath (16km from Auli) are the best and affordable for all income grades. Here you can hire a bed (in a dormitory), budget room, deluxe room or super deluxe room as per your convenience. Restaurant provides good food and is neat, and clean too serving you with their heart like good private hotel. Because of accessibility and situated far from the market eatables (tea, coffee, Maggie, eggs etc) are little costly as usual, so be prepared for that and don't be panic and don't pretend being cheated and if you are with kids then go with extra woollens and if possible don't go with infant's. Enjoy!!!
If anybody has to be at Badrinath, he/she has to be at Auli as well. It is the highest skiing point in asia. Although there are couple of private resorts but GMVN resort is at highest point and best located. In winters you cannot get even a bed at their dormitory if not advanced booked. Surrounded by sky high mountains, this place should be a must visit destination in your list. The resort is great.
