About Gandhi Maidan

voted as clean

Gandhi Maidan, formerly known as Patna Lawns, is popular attraction in the region as it has been a witness to several Indian freedom movements, including the Champaran and the Quit India movement held during 1942. This ancient ground is located near the banks of Ganga River, towards the east of the Golghar Falls.

This ground was considered as hotspot for freedom movement rallies and major activists from the Indian freedom struggle namely Mahatma Gandhi, Rajendra Prasad, Sardar Patel, Maulana Azad, Nehru and Indira Gandhi have made memorable speeches here. Presently, this ground is being utilised for several commercial purposes like private parties, mass prayers and trade fairs

In the north western corner of the ground lies the Gandhi Sangrahalaya, which showcases various pictures and records of Mahatma Gandhi's presence and connections with Bihar. During the year 1947, it used to be the house of the Education Minister, Dr. Syed Mahmud.  These grounds are situated near Ashok Rajpath in Moradpur and are 2.5 km from central Patna.

Statue of Gandhi and Garden nearby is very beautiful. Good for morning and evening walk in every season. A big place for crowd. Very often political rallies occur here. It is a Historical ground. Best time to visit morning and evening to get fresh air. Nearby you can go to Gandhi museum and Golghar only within one kilometer radius.

"Best place for leisure time"

One of the most famous landmark of Patna. Many malls multiplex shops and beautiful garden with Gandhiji statue. Gandhiji's statue is standing tall, and I might want to claim this is the tallest I have seen. The space is usually used to organise political rallies, fest and fairs and early morning exercises. It has a circular road around it and if you are roaming around in Patna, very sure, that you will cross this once. The place is famous for being a cultural and economical hub in Patna.

"Famous place but garbage all around"

  • 4.0/7

Located in the heart of the city. The place is famous for the movement started by Jay Prakash Narayan, which changed the history of India. However it is poorly kept and there is garbage all around making it difficult to stay there for long.
