Gandi Overview

Ranked 5 of 22 sightseeing in Cuddapah

Gandi is renowned for the Anjaneya Swamy Temple that has been constructed on the west side of the River Papaghni, on the foot of a hill. The River Papaghni flows at this site from south to north from between two hills. According to mythology, Lord Rama had once visited this area while returning from Lanka.

Father of Anjaneya, Rama Vayu placed a wreath of flowers to welcome Lord Rama. Before departing from the place, Lord Rama made a figure of Anjaneya on a rock. Among the few people who have been able to see the figure, the former British Governor, Sir Thomas Manro is the most prominent. Travellers can also have a glimpse of the stone praakaaram in the sanctum sanctorum of this temple. It is believed that the temple was constructed in 1911 by Tirupathi Seshanna. The site is visited by the devotees, especially during the month of Sravana.

Can be viewed from buses

Actually it is good Gandhi statue in center of the square hence name comes as Gandhi Square. Gandhi square is well designed with flowers on Gandhi Jayanti, Independence Day and Republic Day. I advice people or travellers not to go there instead can view directly from buses.
