An ideal weekend Getaway for a day or two. This place is just few hours drive from Bangalore. This place is much enjoyed by kids with all pet animals (Rabbits, Dogs, Ducks etc). The rooms are average but the kids can have lot of fun (Fishing, cycling, Dam, Boating / coracle ride etc). The owner of the property are very friendly and the food was good and well-prepared. A best place for kids for a day stay.

It is a good home stay away from city noise. The rooms are basic and clean. It is a small place and can look crowded if all the rooms are full. We were lucky to have only a few fellow travellers. It is wise to go the resort in your own vehicle. We spent the day we reached in the resort. The night we went for a safari overcharged and was not worth. Nature walk the next morning. Just like a walk in the rural mountainous area. It was refreshing and was enjoyed by the kids. Not very tiring too. Visit to Shivasamudram falls from there was good. One can plan a picnic out of it. The food is good in the resort cooked as per your requirement. Ideal for when you travel with friends or relatives as the place is small and there is nothing much to do. A very small tank like pool is there. Please take the route map for reaching the resort. A little difficult route. Might seem a little overcharged and is suitable for people who want to make a leisure visit to a country home stay.

Many of my friends have warned me not to trust online reviews. They may be fake. However I always believe the online reviews and select new places. I had more successes than failure in experimenting with new places based on reviews. But this one was a big big disappointment.

We were 4 of us - Husband, me and my parents. Took a day Package with Sunshine costing around 1k per person. We reached the resort at 2 PM after visiting the falls and directly had lunch. The idea to take the break was to relax my parents so that the travel does not get too hectic for them. I categorically mentioned the objective before booking.

Let me get directly to the major disappointments:
1) Charging 1k for day trip they did not have even a proper place to rest or even stretch your legs, my parent were sitting in a sofa from 3 PM - 5 PM. All because they were excited to go for Fun fishing which they mentioned will be interesting. My mom kept asking them to take us for the fishing in the meantime so that we can leave early. But they wanted to take us in a group. Hence we waited till 5 PM sitting in a sofa.

2) "Fun Fishing" was anything but funny! - Finally 5 PM and we were joined by another old lady and a mid age lady with her toddler and nanny. A guide from the resort joined us and we started walking. The walk was supposed to be for around 2Km. We kept walking in middle of nowhere till 5:40 PM. The old lady gave up and the toddler started puking. The guide did not even look back, he kept walking straight much ahead of us. He did not understand Hindi or English and just kept saying 5 mins more. My husband followed him ahead and came back running saying it's just a stagnant drain with lots of bushes around. One cannot even get down. We started almost running back, poor my mom and the others had to really push themselves as it was getting dark and cloudy and not a single soul around neither any street light. If anything would have happened to us, no one would have even got to know about it as there was no mobile coverage as well.
I am speechless. How can the resort owners not warn people and tell them what can be expected? I definitely have never come across such unmindful act in any place ever. We finally reached back at 6:30 PM , all of us highly disappointed. They did not care much when we shared out feedback. Just laughed it away which pissed us even more. It was a very dangerous thing to do with your customers in such remote village area.

3) Emergency Support: We were upset and about to leave when my husband realized the car keys got locked inside the car. First time we had this situation, we thought we can open the car with a scale but could not. We went to the owners and asked them for help. Their son just came once, but did not help us much with any mechanic number or anything. It started raining and we were trying to open it with help of another car's driver and calling up Justdial for mechanic. No one was even able to relate where we were. The place is in middle of nowhere and we dint know what to do next? Even the house keys are inside along with the car keys, so even taking a cab and leaving the place was not an option. We got drenched in rain and trying to open with help of our mobile light. The least they could do is send an umbrella or a torch to help us in dark. We felt so abandoned. With our parents, we felt more hurt as they dint have a clue what was happening. They JUST DIDN'T CARE.

We are regulars in travelling to adventurous places, trying camps across south but what keeps our experimentation spirit on are the people we connect to and the trust we have that they know how to take care in case of any emergency like someone falling sick or car breaking down. They themselves told us at the end that last month someone faced the similar situation. Then how can one be so unprepared! It's a big lesson and I think this is how unwanted cases happen in such situations. Anyone can be the victim. It was lesson for us too. Not having good phone coverage made us feel even more handicapped.

They definitely are understaffed, also they are over charging for the place they run.

Overall a very nice experience, because of the good hospitality of the hosts and good facilities and food.

Best Experience: There are some very interesting items like a group of ducks, rabbits and special birds which are flowing there. Then there is a small walk through a forest path which takes you to the Cauvery and there is an old temple there and also an opportunity to do mock fishing. My children enjoyed that a lot

Worst Experience: None

Overall it was a good experience. The location of the resort is good and convenient. It is worth a 2 day 1 night stay. The distance from bangalore makes it a very convenient choice for a weekend getaway. The resort is clean with conveniences like a refridgerator and 24 hr hot water. The barachukki falls was excellent. The coracle ride was worth the Rs.100/- we paid he took us really close to the falls..so getting wet was inevitable.

Best Experience: The best experience was definately the time we spent in the pool and the barachukki falls. We visited on a weekend so the falls was crowded and quite poorly maintained. The coracle ride was exciting for an extra Rs50 he took us for a another small round. Chat up with these guys and they will give you a better time. The pool at the resort was clean and very enjoyable. The fun fishing was also exciting. We managed to catch a few small fishes, which was promptly let back into the water.

Worst Experience: The falls is a breathtaking view. However there is no care or concern shown by the govt to keep the place clean, which really distroys the experience. There were just too many people littering, garbage was strewn all over, people were bathing, washing dishes and clothes at the same place. Even if the govt charges some nominal fee from visitors it is worth it to just preserve these places.

The resort was a good experience. However they should provide free snacks during tea/coffee/bon fire. The snacks were charged and quite highly priced. The food can be improved alot. Breakfast was good but lunch and dinner was average. Also since tea/coffee was DIY I think it should be provided thru the day.

GSV, as we discovered is just half hour from Mysore, and we are glad we opted to experiment staying there rather than in Mysore, while breaking journey enroute to Bangalore. It is so calm and beautiful. The falls are a stones throw away and, this time of the year a delight to see.

GSV was a welcoming break enroute from Ooty to Bangalore. It is so calm and beautiful. The waterfalls are a stones throw away and a delight to see this time of the year.
The pool at the resort is refreshing. The food is personally handled by the hosts, and one could see the personal touch to make sure everyone is kept happy. We had 2 children with us, and special exciting menu was prepared for them. They loved the sight of the duck, geese, dogs pigeons, and what have you.The touch of nature was a refreshing change for them, espcially since we live in the city and in an apartment. I had no regrets spending the night at Georgia Sunshine Village instead of Mysore, and will definitely return for more of nature and relaxation.
A Special Thanks to the Hosts, Leonard and Georgia, for giving us the atmosphere of a home away from home.

Best Experience: The fabulous food. (the lemon pudding is to kill for!). The rooster that guards its teritory, not very big tho, but grrrreeat fun, with him chasing you if ever you wondered in there!!
The staff that wait on you patiently, and willing to do that extra bit for you.

We visited the GSV on the 25 of January, 2009. We had earlier gone on a vacation to a homestay in kutta, and were expecting to spend the weekend on some such place. We found the GSV very nice in its facilities, and the food was very good. It is situated in the middle of nowhere, and has very good surroundings. It has very modern amenities and games facilities, all of which we enjoyed thoroughly. However, there is nothing more than that you could do around. There are a couple of waterfalls, with coracle rides, but they are quire far from the resort (takes some 45 minutes to an hour to reach them). If one is not going to the waterfall, and wants to do something apart from what common resorts have, like, if you are interested in seeing some wildlife, experiencing some glimpse of village life, this definitely is not the place to go. The only two activities that you can do apart from in-house GSV facilities are \'fun-fishing\' and trekking. There isnt a great place to trek around, you will be guided through the villages and some reasonably decent slopes. For fishing, there are plenty of fishes in the stream flowing 5 minutes walk away from the resort, but, its very hard to catch some fish. We had to find the right place downstream to find reasonably large fishes, and we managed to catch only 3 small ones. If they had provided with live baits (like earthworms), we could have done much better. Else, it just becomes fish-feeding.

Best Experience: Very modern in-house amenities, and good food.

Worst Experience: Fishing was a tragedy. No baits, no floats on the rods.

We came across this place by sheer chance. It has a special mention in the Outlook 52 weekend breaks from Bangalore. We were there for only 1 night, but thoroughly enjoyed our break from Bangalore. The drive there is not very long, but some sections of the roads are horrible.

Best Experience: The hosts were gracious and very warm. The place is situated well awake from any roads and civilisation, so is very quiet. The buffet meals were very nice. We had a nice quiet time there. The morning walk, though bereft of any wildlife, was very healthy!

Worst Experience: None really.
