Ginger Hotel was a different experience altogether right from its concept of utilitarian existence to its professionalism when it comes to service by staff. I liked the concept of conservation whether it is the soap, shampoo or water. Staff were seemingly ingrained in courteousness and ready to help even when I landed unannounced in the middle of the night. They gave me an estimate of 20 mins while they checked about my settling in and with minimum fuss arranged a room with customised service within a budget as per my needs. Breakfast Buffet was modest but Lunch and Dinner was a ravishing experience with Butter Rice, Peas Pulao and Paneer Tikka grilled to perfection. Almost makes me want to visit again for the mouth watering delicacies they served me each on the 3 days I was boarding with them. The receptionist though not having any proper concierge, was able to summon up a rickshaw ride at 5 mins notice on multiple occasions when I had to visit the main city. Staff were also informative and regaled me with short tales of local legend and provided a usefully accurate itinerary of places to visit around town.
I booked online for my stay at Hotel Ginger, Mysore. Their online reservation system is neat. I had to carry the printout of online voucher to be presented at front desk at the time of check in. Room number will be allocated upon check-in. The front desk asked for my ID card, full address of the place I came from, my email id and phone number. I booked a Double room for 2 nights and 3 days with complementary breakfast included in the cost of the package. Check in/Checkout is 12 noon. I reached Ginger at around 1:30 PM on 2nd April 2011 and checked out at 12 Noon on 4th April 2011. I got complimentary breakfast on 3rd April 2011 and 4th April 2011 at the hotel restaurant called \'The Square Meal\'. Complimentary breakfast is not served in the room. One can have it in the dining area only. The total package cost me INR 3,999/- inclusive of taxes. I did not have to pay a penny more than this amount. Since it’s a budget hotel with emphasis on self-service, Ginger does not charge “Service Charge”.
Went to Mysore for a client visit in November and stayed at Ginger Hotel Mysore which is operated by Tata Group and was amazing experience for me. I could not believe I could get all the facilities in such a price. Good for Mysore Ginger and it's location is very near to Zoo, Palace, Karanji Lake. It has it's own good travel desk. Free Wi-Fi, room service, cafe coffee day inside hotel, ATM. The rooms are cosy with modern amenities like TV, fridge, coffee maker, Wi-Fi etc. The food options though were limited but coffee day helped. The bathroom had standard fitting and good toiletries. But most of the service was limited and had to depend on self service option like ironing.
1. I had done an online internet booking for Ginger Mysore. At the reception counter, I just presented my ID Proof and every thing was done automatically. They did not even ask for my booking copy. The buffet facility is extreemly well organised with all the menu shown on printed notice board at the entry point for dinning area. 2. The only negative thing is that the food menu in the room service is very little ( mostly snacks and starters from chinese) compaired to the menu available in the dinning area. So one has to go to the down stair to satisfy the hunger. 3.The check out was extreemly smooth, in five minutes time they presented a bill for additional food for my daughter and tax. The really good service and value for money in the TATA way.
The Ginger hotel is at a good location. It is very close to many tourist spots and many restaurants are nearby. The staff was polite and helpful. My room was really comfortable. The A/C and TV worked properly. The bathroom was really clean. I felt that the hotel was good in terms of safety, whether you are travelling alone or with family. Overall, my stay was value for money and I would recommend it to everyone.
