Goa food, sight-seeing and shopping options
This was my first trip to Goa and I was in the North part of Goa hence I can only give information that region. I was in Arpora near Baga Beach. While on Baga Brittos was the place we used to have snacks & meals. The other option there is St. Anthony’s Bar & Restaurant which is the oldest restaurant. Both are right on the beach with some good sea food options. The bombay bhel poori stalls near the temple on the baga beach also serve some good bhel.
Also Delhi Chat near the Calangute Beach is a must visit for some veg snacks including Bhature Chole, Tikki et al. Tila Kulfi is also popular from this joint.
The beaches worth visiting in order of my preference is Calangute, Baga, Anjuna & Vagator all in North Goa. Beaches to avoid for sure is Miramar beach in Panjim.
The sunset cruise on Mandovi River is also worth the fun. I had a great time with the cruise. Among the churches I visited St Francis church was an architectural marvel.
Fort Aguda had some nice scenic beauty for some nice clicks for the camera.
While in Goa make sure you shop for alcohol, cashew & feny & preferably from Panjim.

Hotel Review of Leela, The
Comments: Well it's a mixed experience. While I enjoyed the location as well as the architechture of the resort. The same can't be said about the service. Let me tell you first hand that unless you are stinking rich (in which case u will not be reading this review in the first place), the service you get for the rpice you pay will leave a lot to desire for. I for one am not going again to that resort.
Best Experience: The best thing definetly was the resort itself. I am in complete agreement with folks who wrote about how beautiful it looks at night. Its a huge resort and very beautiful. There is so much greenery all around inside the resort and the rooms are also placed around water bodies (lagoon), which has a very calming feel to it.
Worst Experience: THE SERVICE. As I said, for the amount you pay, you will not be happy with the service at all. The staff at the hotel will always go by the rule book, not an inch more and not less. I was not surprised to read someone talking about having a bad experience while asking for extended checkout. I had the same issue. I just wanted 60 min extra i.e. 1 pm instead of 12 pm, as the hotel shuttle leaves at 2. The hotel staff promptly declined quoting non availability of rooms. So I checked out at 12, after loafing on the beach for 2 hours I reached the lobby and boarded the hotel shuttle at sharp 2 pm but the shuttle won't move. After waiting 10 min,, I went back to the reception and enquired about the reason for the delay. Apparently, some foriegners were still checking out and we were waiting for them. Not only did they allow the foriegners to chekout 2 hrs late (while the resort is fully booked), they also had me waiting because of them, risking me loosing my flight (it was at 3:50 pm). Can't write what I told them after all this but the result was that they sent me immediately in a different car. That was my 'Leela' experience.

Hotel Review of Leela, The
All I have to say it was a perfect designed holiday for my family. The room: well I stayed in the lagoon room; very clean and well kept all the time. Service: very good staff, very well mannered guys; this was just a perfect holiday. I do travel all over but after my Caribbean holiday at the St Thomas islands, this was the perfect one. I have enjoyed every moment of this and we are looking forward this year too....

Hotel Review of Leela, The
Our visit to The Leela, Goa this summer was our third trip to Goa in as many years. It has become almost a routine with us. Whenever we feel the need for a short getaway we heed to Goa and come back rejuvenated. We just love the sea and as an Architect, it is a welcome break to sometimes build castles in the ...sand with my daughter. This was our first stay at The Leela and had great expectations of...

Hotel Review of Leela, The
The Leela works on a directly proportionate scale of cost to luxury, so the more you can afford to spend on your room, the better the experience you will have. This particularly goes for the Club rooms (there are just 15 of them inside the 75-acre property) which are situated in their own private compound and have their own pool (five of these suites also have their very own plunge pool). There's also a separate dining area that's off-limits...

Hotel Review of Leela, The
Overall, the Leela is a great place to be for a vacation. The Vijaynagar kingdom based designs appear a bit grotesque and takes some getting used to. The facilities and the room design make you really feel like a king/queen. The place is really nice and the beach is very well maintained. However, access to the main tourist places can be a problem as the resort is located in the deep south of Goa....

Hotel Review of Leela, The
Its an stunning resort in terms of design and architecture. The resort is filled with exotic plants. The lagoons flowing behind each room is beautiful. The service in the cafe is pretty good. The buffet spreads are lavish to say the least. But I must warn you that the service overall at the Leela is mediocre. They lack the personal touch that Taj resorts offer. This is not the first time I was staying at Leela. I have stayed before...
