Gokarna food, sight-seeing and shopping options
Since my husband was looking for sea food, we found one cafe(Sea Green Cafe) just facing the beach where awesome sea food preparations are served. Anyone crazy about sea food must visit this cafe on the beach, once. If you are the sorts who expects instant serving of your menu ordered, then DO NOT VISIT this cafe as the minimum service time there is 25 minutes. There are other small pure veg restaurants, on the ground floor of Gokarn International Hotel. If you are a person who can survive on Idly-vada and south indian meals, then you will have no problems searching for an eating place. Others who are dependent on bread-burgers, better practice eating these as it being a small pilgrim, you will not get your chinese/continental food at every corner. As for sight-seeing, the beach is there, of course. It is famous for the Ishwar temple, but seeing so much of crowd my husband and myself opted out of it. So cannot really speak of the temples there. We stayed Gokarna all 5 days and from there visited Om Beach, Karvar, Murudesvara, Yana Hills. One should visit Murudeswara for its awesome beach and the fact that the world's tallest Gopuram(249 feet) is there with the stone structure of Lord Siva in the sitting pose. From the beach the view is amazing. The best part, you can drive your vehicle all along the beach without sinking as the sand hardens whenever water flows over it. And it is very clean and has since its such a long stretch, families find isolated locations for themselves to play in the water and on the beach without the crowd interfering.
