Gudavi Bird Sanctuary, situated in Sorab town in the vicinity of Shimoga, is a popular destination of birdwatchers. The sanctuary, spread over an area of about 0.75 sq km, is located on the banks of Gudvi Lake, which welcomes flocks of migratory birds during July to October.
Some of the bird species that can be spotted here are gray heron, little cormorant, jungle fowl, black headed crane, darter, Indian shag, little grebe, white ibis, pariah kite, etc.
