Gulur Ganesh Temple snapshot
|1 Rating & 1 Review|
Gulur Ganesh temple is situated about 5 km away from the Tumkur town, on the Tumkur-Kunigal road. It was built about 50 years ago by Thopegowda and does not have any permanent deity.
On the day of Vinayaka Chaturthi, the construction of a Lord Ganesha idol begins and is completed by Naraka Chaturdashi. It takes over two months to complete the construction of the idol. After installing this idol at the temple, special pujas are performed for over a month. This idol is then immersed in the Gulur Pond.

We went after the Karthigai day and hence, there was not much to see except the deity. I am told that about a lakh devotees visit this temple during 1 month from the Diwali day till Karthigai. During that period there will be celebrations daily sponsored by both the locals and the visitors within 10 kms from Tumkur city.More » « Less
