We were on a trip to Dhanushkodi from Bangalore and stopped over for a night in Madurai. Our choice of this hotel turned out to be very good. Location: It is located just 5 km from Meenakshi Temple, a 20 min ride. Easily accessible from the main road. Ambiance: The property is more than a 100 yr old and was a club back then. It has multiple villas, each having 5-6 rooms. The whole property gives a colonial bungalow feeling. The whole place was neatly maintained. It is a big property with a lot of space for kids to play around. My 4-year-old roamed around the property in her scooter throughout the stay. It also has a swimming pool though we did not go there due to our short stay. The place was quite peaceful, except for sound from temple early morning around 6 am. It also had a big Banyan tree inside. Rooms: We were upgraded to Luxury room on arrival. Rooms are pretty big with a living area having sofa, tv and mini-bar. Bedroom has comfortable king size bed. It has wooden flooring all around. Just outside the bedroom is a mini pool, about 2-3 ft deep, mostly for kids which was a pleasant surprise. This area is open from the top and also has huge bathrooms. Rooms exceeded our expectation. Food: Food in the restaurant was nice. Breakfast buffet had a good variety - muffins, pancakes, egg-related stuff, idli and dosas among other things. Food quality was good. Kothu paratha is a must try for non-vegetarians. Though service was a bit slow in the Banyan Tree restaurant. Service: Staff is very polite and courteous. Overall, this place felt a very good bargain for the price it is being offered for. Highly recommended, especially for families.
To start with is the location. Amidst the busy roads of Madurai on the city side the property is located. Easy to find, But shouldn't bother much with the sounds. The property is huge with almost more than 70+ rooms. The property is very classy and in a heritage style. We were welcomed at the entrance and check in went in smooth. We were taken to our rooms and was given briefings about the rooms and the property. We stayed in the Highest category the private pool suite. The rooms are very spacious which includes a hall a bedroom overlooking the private pool and also is a spacious granite bathroom interconnecting the pool. The ambience altogether gave us a perfect holidaying mode. Every detail was perfect and maintenance was at its best being a decade old property. Secondly their common pool was again huge and looked beautiful and was beyond words. Mostly made of stone and clear waters makes you feel like a temple pond. The waters were warm must be cause of the climate but yea it was fun to have a dip the only thing is its up to 4ft. Next is the dining experience. Which is very average. We had the lunch buffet which was too terrible. Lack of taste, flavor and aroma and too one instance the main course which was on top of the induction stove was not in auto mode having the gravy over cooked and burnt. So totally the lunch was to a complete dissatisfaction. The same evening they had a Mango festival adding mango to all their dishes from starters to main-course and the deserts. For some reason after taking up the matters to them about our lunch experience the dinner was somehow average from the lunch. But yes their pastry chef had an amazing do at it, Highlight was the mango Brownie which was more like what I had my whole dinner as with a mango ice cream topped. The breakfast luckily went well. Nothing much to say but it was just fine. Being a weekday they didn't have Buffet for lunch and it was a la carte. So we were craving for some proper south indian and we ordered steamed rice and sambar and urulai arrival and some south indian appalam and curd to end it with. What shocked me was sambar being the most common thing prepared in the south and being a property who charges pretty much heavy and they can't get their sambar right was pretty shocking, again lack of flavor and aroma, the urulai arrival was perfectly cooked and well tempered but again the same it was blunt. So you see the dining experience isn't much to expect. The service is great and would like to thank Rajeev who took care of our complete dining. Next is the spa. I wished I hadn't gone for it. I hail from Gods Own Country [Kerala] and to me ayurveda isn't something im new to But for what I chose to and to what I received with a facial backed up after the massage was totally overrated and to the horror the next day had to wake up with a terrible neck pain and for all that I was charged a whooping sum of INR 6000. 00 So you see dining and spa not exactly what you'd want to try out. And if you can't get a MARMA MASSAGE right then I'm sure your Dhara wont be better at all.. Now to sum them up.. I would definitely recommend this beautiful place for the stay minus the dining and spa experience. The only question that puzzles is knowing that a lot of celebrities visit the property and keep returning and I wonder how they serve this food and end up having them visit again. Apart from all this I just loved the stay and would probably head back too but just to stay..
The hotel in near Madurai city and the hotel service is also so fast. The stay in a hotel is like a filmy and it's a enjoyable stay in a fantastic place. I went for a trip to Madurai with my family. It's a very fantastic place to stay. The services offered there are very good. The apartments are awesome. I loved the service and enjoyed myself a lot. It was a great experience. The infrastructure was also well-maintained and i wish to visit the hotel again.
The hotel is located at a very good location. Meenakshi is about 4 km. Autos are easily available and charge about 120 bucks. The restaurant is very good and offers a good buffet and a la-carte. The only drawback was a lot of mosquitos in the night at the restaurant. The rooms are very spacious and are referred to bungalows. They are very spacious.
I was stay here at last week right from the check-in to check-out. Front office, housekeeping, in room dining all the staff and officials supporting staff have been so good, very kind with their excellent hospitality, efficient and attentive service with care and smile. The food was excellent. I would place on record the sincere, dedicated excellent and attentive service care and smile rendered by Mr. Karthik FOM and Ms. Ananthi they are really asst of the hotels. I have noticed that Mr. Dominic VP operation has personally interacted with every guest and enquired about their comfort during their stay in the period. I really appreciated his style of operation and function. Need few improvement. Need to fill the buffet once it over nearly, F&B Manager or chef need to put their presence with all guest. F&b Manager not ready to say single word and smile need to have customer orientated manager in this place. But overall, we are enjoyed our holiday special thanks to Mr. Dominic, karthik and Ananthi and other all fo and HK staff.
It was an excellent hotel. The hotel destination was very nice. I had visited this hotel with my family. All useful amenities were provided in the room. The food quality was good in the hotel. The activity was arranged by the hotel. The behaviour of the staff was good in the hotel. I had booked this room by online. They were provided welcome drink by the hotel. There was no problem in check-in and check-out process. The hotel was located outside the city. I would recommend this hotel to my friends and relatives.
