Two of us left from Delhi for Shimla on October 27 in a Volvo booked through Red Buses. Per ticket cost 880INR. The bus left from behind Chandralok building opposite to Imperial Hotel at Janpath. The departure time was delayed by one hour and it took two hours to tour Delhi before we could finally leave the borders. We reached Shimla at 6:45am. We were dropped about 15kms off the hotel and negotiated the distance in a taxi that charged 150INR. Hotel Holiday Home (HHH) in Shimla is a HPTDC hotel located near the mall road and a walk of five minutes from the Lift which takes you to the main market two levels above the ground. Little pinchy for the pocket as the tariff does not include the breakfast but once-in-a-while you can let looooo..se. Going by the reception staff, a web booking of the hotel does not warrant a discount but believe me, it does if you press a bit while checking in which we came to know while settling our dues during check out, ah.. we missed the 10 to 20 percent cut. Mall road market has the British touches, especially the scandal point with two well dressed sepoys of the \'gentry\' and ofcourse the broad welcomiing theatre. You will find several attractive places to shop but beware of the prices..little too high. For simple buys, you could choose hand made woollen socks, caps, mufflers, custom free woollens at a blanket price of 150 INR each. But, for others please do not forget to haggle. Well, a last discovery, which proved the best to satiate our shopping spree, a tribal shop at the hotel. It gave us the best buys. The main bus/taxi stand is very close to the hotel and accessibility to the site seeing spots is quite easy. You can arrange for a tour taxi at the travel desk in the hotel or a local driver but try to haggle a bit to get a fair price otherwise be open to being taken for a ride. However, the inflating fuel prices to some extent do justify the escalated demand. In Shimla petrol is a whopping INR 75 a litre. From Shimla plan your visits to Kufri, Naldhera, Tattapani and not the least God\'s own place Chail. They would come in the package. Locally do not miss monkey ridden Zaku temple and Institute of advanced studies with Burma teak interiors. It would hold you in awe, more so because here the Shimla Conference - the talks of India-Pakistan division were held. Try to snatch a photo at the table where they really talked. For you to identify...the round shaped medium built table has a split in between and is on the right side of the entrance adjacent to the conference hall of the Viceroy. Shimla and around, can be seen in two whole days not more, provided you
Shimla is busy tourist destination. Beautiful hills, scenic valleys, buzzing shopping places, amazing treks... its a must visit for any hill lover
I did book it on the spot on my arrival. Hotel was located at convenient place. Overall my experience was very nice in this hotel. Hotel structure and design from outside and inside was attractive. Hotel was well maintained and furnished. Staff service and hotel services were up to the mark. I did not face any problem in the hotel. Room was spacious and well maintained and they did provide TV, geyser, bed, blanket, etc amenities in the room. Activities were nil in the hotel. Shimla as a tourist place is wonderful destination for outing. Food was available in the hotel with veg and non-veg category both of was delicious. This hotel is economical and I will recommend this hotel for my concern. I travelled this place in Jan month with my family.
Very Good, i would like to go there again soon. I appreciate the service level of this Hotel, our stay was very comfortable.
The Hotel is located at a strategic corner, you can have wonderful scenery of the valley and mountain from the room. We visited during 2015 Diwali. It was a refreshing experience staying three days in the hotel and visiting the adjacent places. Food was good. We being non vegetarian liked the Trout barbeque platter. Rooms were well maintained, geyser was working properly. We booked a Black Innova from the Travel Desk of Hotel Holiday Home for taking us to Manali and Rohtang for three days. The mistake that we did was to pay the full amount before the tour was complete and as such, was cheated to the extent that last day the Driver did not turn up. A word of caution, don't pay the full amount until your trip is complete. Barring this financial loss, the stay was pleasant.
