I stayed at this hotel along with 2 other female friends on 11th Feb'2017. To start with - 1. The hotel is about 500 metres from the beach in the middle of the market. Location is favourable but definitely not beach worthy as the view is terrible from the rooms. All you can see from your window/balcony is small shops or the dumping ground next to the hotel. 2. The manager of the hotel - A man called Mr. Pralay misbehaved with us at 10:30 in the night along with other 3 staff members. The manager blatantly told us that since we are 3 females and have no Male member to look after us, we should go and contact the police. I have a video of the staff where the manager is posing and asking his crew members to pose as if a group photograph is being taken. This is the level of shamelessness that this hotel staff presented to us. The entire episode began with us trying to carry food from a nearby restaurant into our rooms, to be then eaten at leisure at any time of the night. Let me just mention here that we were 3 best friends from Delhi who went to Kolkata for a leisure trip (also we are huge foodies and it was the love for fish and other sea food that brought us to this city). It is against this hotel's rules to bring outside food into the privacy of your rooms but perfectly alright to bring outside food into their restaurant (a small eating place on the ground floor of the hotel building). We were unaware of this rule as it wasn't mentioned at the time of check-in. But when we had our dinner packed and were walking towards the lift at the end of the alley, we were stopped, yelled at, misbehaved with. When we started protesting and demanded to contact the higher management, we were blatantly told that no such assistance would be provided to us ( have a video proof of the same). On demand, a police officer was called to the hotel ( who was clearly allied with the hotel and refused to even listen to us). He did not let us speak. He knew we don't understand Bengali but would not resort to Hindi or English to communicate with us. The surprising part is that on top of it all, we were accused of offense for entering the hotel at 10:30 in the night. It was brought to our notice that it is not allowed ( I don't even know what this means) to enter a hotel in Kolkata after 10:30 in the night. This nightmare of an experience shook us and seemed we were in a land where logic, manners and basic decency is non-existent. We left Digha the very next day and suggest that this hotel should strictly be avoided.
The most I liked its architecture. Room was nice but there was some problem in lift at that time. It was located very near to the beach. It was 3 minutes walk. AC, attached bathroom, room service or everything was available in the room. Lawn was also there. Coffee maker and freeze was not there. Service was quick and on time. They had their own restaurant in the ground floor. All varieties like veg, non-veg or everything was provided there. Beach view was visible from the lawn. Location of the hotel was very good. Look wise, it was also very good. Booking, front office, and reception service were good. Service of the staff was also good. Rooms were very good. Food and drink was good. No activity was available there. Digha as a place is a very good place to go. I went there with my friends in March. There was a problem of lift. Otherwise, it was good.
I stayed with my Family and one of my Friends' Family in this Hotel Kanchan International in Digha, West Bengal India last year in the month of July 2015 during my Rainy vacation. We arrived at the Hotel at evening from Digha Railway Station by a Motor Van, The Distance from Digha Railway station to the Hotel is approx 3 Km. After arriving the Hotel we booked 02 non AC Double Bed ed Room with Rs. 1200 each including service tax. The size of the Room is average, clean with a Tv set, a Fridge for cold water or drinks. The Hotel has a own Restaurant on ground floor. They did not allow foods from outside shop. Hotel Boys are good behaved. I advice any traveller to stay in this Hotel Kanchan International in Digha. I also shall stay in this Hotel in future.
I had been here in the month of October 2016. The destination and location of the hotel was good. The appearance of the hotel is average both internally and externally. There was no delay in Check-in and Check-out. The tariff for the room is high. The service of the staff in the hotel was average. The room in the hotel was comfortable and availed basic amenity in the room. I did not eat food at this hotel. There were no activities in the hotel. I had been to this hotel for religious purpose with family.
The room price is very high as compared to facility given. Room service is very poor. Location is very good. Food facilities is very good. Look of hotel is not so good. Room price is 30 % higher than the normal price. As per price the facilities given for room is not so good.
