The hotel is located near Raja seat a popular landmark in Madikeri Town. It is located in a quiet locality away from the hustle and bustle of the bazaar. It is a short ride away from the centre of town. The first appearance of the hotel is very appealing. It has basement parking facilities for the cars. We drove in from Bangalore at about 1. 30 pm and had a very pleasant check in with wet towels and a welcome drink. The reception and check in were swift and hassle free. The building is built to the hillside using the topography of the site, typical of hill stations. Due to this we actually climb a floor or two down to the rooms. The rooms are very modern. We stayed in the Super Deluxe room which has amenities like coffee kettle, complementary fruit baskets, mini bar. It is well furnished to contemporary decor. The bathroom was located at the far end of the room rather than next to the entrance as in most hotels. This does afford more privacy. Room had enough space for the extra bed we had asked for the kids. We had a panoramic view from the room window overlooking a housing extension and some hills. The lobby outside the rooms is very nicely done up with sofas at nooks and corners to have that long telephonic conversation that always pops up from work without disturbing others. The room service was quite good. The attached restaurant, Zaffron (reviewed separately) complements the hotel well and serves a decent cuisine. The hotel also has a small store selling local produce like coffee powder, spices and chocolates. The staff is all very pleasant and attentive to the needs of the customers. We had a very pleasant stay and would definitely stay here on our next visit.
The overall experience at the hotel was excellent. The hotel was located in the centre of the city. The parking facility was provided in the hotel. I had arranged our own transport. The destination was very peaceful and calm. The appearance of the hotel was excellent. I was received warmly by the staffs at the reception. The room was kept ready and allotted to us once I reached the hotel. The staffs were helpful and attended to us with prompt action. The room service was excellent. The room was spacious and neat and clean. The bathroom cleanliness was fine. The housekeeping staffs did its job well. The amenities like TV, AC and geyser in the room were functioning well. The Wi-Fi facility was provided in the room. The food at the restaurant in the hotel was really very tasty and of good quality. It was a relaxation trip. I had visited with my family. There were no activities in the hotel.
Ours was not a leisure trip. I had booked two rooms for two couples for stay between 15th and 17th Nov, 2014. They sought 50% advance for confirming the booking and the remaining 50% on check-in, which was something unusual. Though we wanted only standard rooms. I was offered only deluxe rooms, which I guess was the same but priced Rs.1000/- above the standard. The looks of the hotel was good, both inside and outside being a new one. Our bathroom (Room No. 104) had a permanent stench. The bathrooms do not have a dry area. They have still not commissioned the restaurant. The complimentary breakfast consisting of the usual idly, poorie, upma were brought from outside and was available only between 8 and 9 am. Only 1 liter of bottled water was given. If you wanted more you had to shell out Rs.40/- per liter. Parking was one hell of a task. To drive to the basement I had to take a 500 meters detour along a bumpy and narrow gully. Overall, I'd say I was overcharged for the limited facilities. The travel from Bangalore to Madikeri was by car. We had taken the route from Srirangapatna to connect to Hunsur Road but the ride seemed long and bumpy. The roads are very bad especially near KRS. While returning we took the ring road from Hunsur. Between Madikeri and Mysore there aren't any good food joints. I saw just one CCD somewhere near Kushalnagar. Between Mysore and Bangalore food outlets are more but concentrated around Mandya and Channnapatna. By and large the drive from Bangalore to Madikeri was good except for the stretch between Srirangapatna and Hunsur.
Excellent destination, it was on a holiday trip with family. The hotel was located at a very good place, it was in the heart of the city. Beautiful city, there was a spa in the hotel, the massage was good. The food was extremely good in taste, there was complimentary breakfast provided. The rooms were very clean, the service of the hotel was immediate. There was a fountain in the reception area, it was an online booking. The climate in this hill station was very good.
The hotel was conveniently located. The check-in and check-out process was smooth. The food was very good in taste. Both vegetarian and non-vegetarian food was served at the hotel. The quality of the food was good. The staff of the hotel were excellent. The room allotted to me was very spacious and very well-maintained. The room was cleaned on our request. The laundry facility was provided. The view was not seen from my room. The appearance of the hotel was great. The surroundings of the hotel were good. The hotel was value for money. I would recommend this hotel to visit for other travellers.
