Lots of companies run bus services through Meghalaya. However, book tickets a few days in advance if desirous of taking the AC luxury buses [recommended]. Due to sensitive situation in these places, it is strongly recommended that one avoids night bus journey. Please dress soberly and do not enter into debates on political or sectarian issues.

Guwahati is well connected with rest of India. From Guwahati, Shillong it is only three to four hours journey depending upon transport you choose. Apart from taxi, Govt. run tourist buses are available from Guwahati airport and railway station. It is better to carry food pack & water in road transport.
