Only by bus either from Haridwar, Rishikesh or from Kotdwara. Best from Haridwar or Rishikesh. Hilly terrain, lot of turns so if you have problem of vomiting in bus then carry medicine of vomiting is must for you..

Accessible only by road. Petrol Pumps are few. One beyond Josimath on Badrinath side direction, just out of town stocks only Petrol. The toher one on the poosite direction, outside town stocks only diesel. Refilling is rationed, one vehicle is permitted to get fuel worth maximum of Rs 1000/- at a time.
