Though the bus was punctual at the beginning but lost time on the way. Local language movies all the way were a disturbance and there wasn't any halt on the long journey. The seats were ok but the temperature was less and hence was very cold. Taking a cab or driving would be a better idea.
I would suggest donít waste booking for AC tickets, Sleeper will suffice the journey, even for the entire family. The reason is it is not too crowded and you can also see the nice outside view from the train. You may not get direct trains to Alleppy so go to Ernakulam and take another train/bus from there.
Bangalore to Alappuzha we went via Coimbatore Bangalore highway. We entered Kerala and there the roads are not good as highway work is going on; it took more time to reach us Allapuzha. But the scenery was nice with small mountains and rivers all through.
The train journey was very good. We boarded at KR Puram. It was a T3 AC and had pleasant journey. At Alleppey there are taxis next to the station, they charged around 2000 INR for dropping to Kumarakom in a AC Innova. The journey from Alleppy to Kumarakom is very good. You will find very good landscapes.
The travel was good and on time, the bed roll was clean, not much commotion, convenient to travel to Alleppy. The toilet was clean. They offer clean and hot food in the train. the compartment was clean and tickets easily available, seats were in good condition without rodents. We came back by the same train as the time was convenient.
