Train was on schedule and reached Madurai on time. As we got upper berths, we had problems, but one fellow passenger swapped his lower birth that allowed my wife to sleep comfortably without the need to climb up. Since we reached Madurai at 7.40 am, there was no need to taste the food either in the train or at the station.

Drive by car is wonderful you get to see the rural side of the country. You get to eat the food at the dhabas We stopped to take some pictures. We took NH 7 route which is nice to travel; their was no bumps on the road, and you can enjoy a smooth drive. Carry water as much as you can because that really helps while travelling by road. More »

The connectivity to Madurai is via NH-43 which is one of the best road. I had travelled, it is well connected and the sign boards are very well displaced, the road is condition is too good. with 4 lane road. The road has multiple toll booths, may be around 7-8 till you reach Madurai. Crossing Hosur and Krishnagiri toll booth would be hectic with maximum waiting time because of the traffic load. More »

Excellent drive from Bangalore to Madurai. The entire route comes under National Highway (NH)7. Lots of toll booth on the way. However the road is well maintained. Good South Indian Food is available at all the towns. Don\\\'t remember seeing many dhabas. Madurai city is very congested and narrow roads. You should be an expert to manage through the city roads. We started from Bangalore early @7 am in my Skoda Octavia with my wife and my son headed via Hosur, Krishnagiri, Salem to Madurai ie NH7, since it was dasara time lot of 4 wheeler traffic was enroute however after Krishnagiri ie 100kms from Bangalore the traffic reduced then we enjoyed the journey. Except stopping @ toll, (an average toll cost Rs1.00 / km.) We maintained a average speed of 100-120 km /hr enroute we did not fill fuel my car gives good mileage, @salem NH7 express highway pass by the city, by 2.00 Pm we were in Madurai, had a visit to Madurai Mennakshi temple @ evening the next morning we headed to Cape / Kanyakumari another 400kms.
